Job summary

ePlus is seeking a Senior Project Manager in the Durham area to support the PMO, guiding internal and external projects, managing communications with customers, and ensuring project goals and budgets are met.

You will mentor project managers, oversee staff development, and run complex programs from design to production while minimizing risk and ensuring timely invoicing and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Engineering, Technology or related field.
  • PMP certification or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of project management or IT management experience.
  • Minimum 5 years coordinating IT business processes.
  • ITIL or other best practices certification is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, presentation and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor Project Managers, overseeing complex projects at strategic accounts.
  • Oversee staff development, project budgeting, and risk management.
  • Plan lifecycle deployment from design to production with clear milestones.
  • Collaborate with Service Directors to define resources and schedules.
  • Develop RFPs for external services with Presales and manage project docs.

Job description

*Hybrid remote opportunity for candidates geographically located in or near Durham, North Carolina with a willingness to work on-site in ePlus' Durham office and on customer sites within the region as necessary.*

As a Senior Project Manager, you will support the Project Management Office leading both internal and external projects by managing communications and expectations with the customer as well as achieving goals and managing the project budget.

Your Impact

The essential functions of this position include:

  • The Senior Project Manager will act as a mentor to Project Managers and could take on complex Projects at ePlus strategic accounts
  • Oversee, train, assist and develop the Project staff
  • Run complex projects/programs from design and development to production
  • Define requirements and plan project lifecycle deployment
  • Work with Service Directors to define resource requirements and determine schedules for project implementation
  • Create strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning
  • Plan and schedule project deliverables, goals and milestones
  • Direct and oversee project engineering team and manage conflicts within group
  • Perform team assessments and evaluations
  • Facilitate team and client meetings effectively
  • Hold regular status meetings with project team
  • Demonstrate leadership to define requirements for project risk
  • Work with Presales to develop Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for external services
  • Manage and maintain technical and project documentation
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects and scope of projects
  • Review deliverables prepared by team before passing to client
  • Effectively apply ePlus methodology and enforce project standards
  • Minimize exposure and risk on projects
  • Track and report team hours and expenses on a weekly basis
  • Determine appropriate revenue recognition, ensure timely and accurate invoicing, and monitor receivables for project
  • Follow-up with clients regarding unpaid invoices, as necessary
  • Analyze project profitability, revenue, margin, bill rates and utilization
  • Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships
  • Assure legal project documents are completed and signed
  • Identify business development and “add-on” sales opportunities as they relate to a specific project
  • Challenge others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model and mentor
  • Develop lasting relationships with client personnel that fosters client ties
  • Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions

As a manager, you are also expected to:

  • Lead and guide team members, fostering growth through mentoring, coaching, and development, while ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business, Engineering, Technology or related field
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years of project management or IT Management experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience coordinating and/supporting IT business processes
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) or other best practices certification is a plus
  • Strong organizational, presentation, and customer service skills
  • Expert Knowledge of PMBOK, Six Sigma
  • Understand revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections; make decisions accordingly

Position Specifics

The initial base salary range for this position is expected to be between $110,000 and $160,000 annually. The final base salary offered will be determined by multiple factors, including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, depth of experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, our compensation structure may include other components such as commissions and discretionary bonuses.

ePlus offers a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility, employee stock purchase program and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and personal leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an offer of employment is extended.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
