Job summary

Safework, based in Los Angeles, seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead the design and construction of multiple projects from inception to closeout. You will direct PM activities, coordinate with clients, and ensure quality, safety and schedule adherence.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years managing complex construction programs, BIM experience, familiarity with DSA processes, LEED/CHPS, and holds AIA/PE/CCM credentials.

Qualifications

• 10 years’ experience in management of multiple design and construction projects.
• Experience with large capital improvement construction programs and familiarity with public building code.
• Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes.
• Experience using BIM and web-based project management systems.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and reviews project management activities including design and construction of new and modernization projects.
• Resolves complex, construction project related issues, disputes, and disagreements.
• Follow and successfully execute program Quality Management System.
• Report and collaborate with client on all project matters.
• Review and develop contract documents in coordination with others.
• Identify risk and create risk mitigation plans successfully.
• Documents and reports all project data accurately and in a timely manner.
• Create and present project data clearly to multiple stakeholder groups.
• Successfully manage and execute the design and/or construction of multiple projects simultaneously.

Position Description

• Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and reviews project management activities including design and construction of new and modernization projects. The Project Manger reports performance of Project Management team.
• Resolves complex, construction project related issues, disputes, and disagreements.

• Report and collaborate with client on all project matters.
• Review and develop contract documents in coordination with others.
• Identify risk and create risk mitigation plans successfully.
• Documents and reports all project data accurately and in a timely manner.
• Create and present project data clearly to multiple stakeholder groups.
• Successfully manage and execute the design and/or construction of multiple projects simultaneously.
• Coordination of budget and schedule information with the Relocation Project Manager regarding FF&E, Asset Disposition/Surplus, and Relocation.
• Manage and coordinate the planning and design phase of projects with all stakeholders including end-user groups, Board of Directors, Local Government, District staff, PMO staff, and others..
• Evaluate, assess, process and manage change order and professional services requests in a timely manner.
• Tracks all project status and provide management reports relative to overall program relative to construction project delivery schedules.
• Tracks status and provides management reports relative to scheduling, cost control, staffing and other related construction contract requirements.
• Reviews and inspects construction site offices to assess performance of construction teams and adherence to legal requirements.
• Reviews recommended actions in resolving disputes relative to construction projects.
• Directs and assists in outreach efforts to provide information about education projects.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• 10 years’ experience in Management of multiple design and construction projects.
• Experience with large capital improvement construction programs and familiarity with public building code.
• Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes.
• BA or BS in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or a closely related field.
• Experience utilizing BIM.
• Knowledge of all parts of the project life cycle, to include master planning, design and closeout.
• Experience in alternative delivery method.
• Experience with using a web-based project management system.
• Experience in LEED certified projects and/or CHPS.
• AIA or PE or CCM.
