Job summary

Ashton North LLC is seeking an experienced Project Manager for NCDOT heavy civil work in Charlotte, NC and central North Carolina. This role oversees roadway, bridge and utility projects from preconstruction through closeout, with a self-perform team and direct line to senior leadership.

You will own budgets, schedules, cost reporting, forecasting and margins, while leading field teams and coordinating with owners, engineers and inspectors. Relocation to the Charlotte area is welcome.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as PM of record on heavy civil, highway, bridge or utility projects.
• NCDOT project experience as PM required; ability to name the jobs.
• Projects run from preconstruction through closeout; not an APM/Engineer role.
• Contractor-side experience only; not suitable for consultant/inspection backgrounds.
• OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
• Charlotte area relocation is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Run NCDOT roadway, bridge and utility projects as PM of record from preconstruction to closeout.
• Own budget, schedule, cost reports, forecasting and margins on each project.
• Submit accurate cost and income projections and address variances early.
• Lead superintendents, field engineers and subcontractors to hit production, quality and safety.
• Serve as main contact for NCDOT, owners, engineers, inspectors and vendors.
• Issue subcontracts, purchase orders and manage subcontractor performance.
• Handle change orders, pay estimates, submittals, claims and contract docs.
• Run weekly project meetings on schedule and cost; report to leadership.
• Collaborate with estimating on bids and project handoff.
• Maintain a strong safety culture on each site.
