Job summary

Francison Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Manager or Senior Project Manager II to lead major construction programs for the Los Angeles Unified School District Facilities Services Division.

The roles demand strategic oversight from planning through project completion and require coordinating with district departments. Location is Downtown Los Angeles with districtwide assignments; this is an on-site position with salaries ranging from $240,000 to $280,000 annually, depending on level

Qualifications

• Twenty years of full time paid professional project or construction management experience.
• Ten of the twenty years managing large programs with projects > $50 million (not cumulative).
• Five years of experience in educational facility construction, public works, or large commercial projects.
• Graduation from a recognized college or university with a degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management.
• Certified Construction Manager credential may substitute for the education requirement.
• Twenty five years of full time paid professional project or construction management experience (alternative path).
• Twenty of the twenty five years managing large programs with projects > $50 million (alternative path).
• Five years of experience in educational facility construction, public works, or large commercial projects.
• Degree preferred but not required; CMA credential preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex construction project issues, disputes, and disagreements.
• Develop, assign, and monitor the performance of Owner Authorized Representatives across assigned projects.
• Review project progress, construction schedules, change orders and impacts on the District.
• Support bid and contract planning and assess bid specifications against District needs and stated timelines.
• Monitor scheduling and cost control variances in the construction project database and oversee fiscal management, including applications for payment.
• Provide functional direction for schedules, cost control, dispute resolution, contract administration, quality control, and consultant contracts.
• Coordinate with District branches and departments, including Environmental Health and Safety, Design and A E Technical Support, Asset Management, Facilities Contract Administration, Inspection, Maintenance and Operations, and local districts.
• Develop and recommend internal policies and procedures and perform other related duties as assigned.

Education

Degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management

About the opportunity

Francison Consulting is hiring for two senior project management levels to support the Los Angeles Unified School District Facilities Services Division Construction Program. One application will be considered for both Senior Project Manager and Senior Project Manager II. Role placement will reflect the selected candidate's experience and the scope of responsibility.

You will help lead major construction programs for one of the nation's largest school districts. The work includes resolving complex project issues, guiding Owner Authorized Representatives, and coordinating with Regional Directors, Facilities management staff, and District departments from planning through completion.

Role levels and compensation

• Senior Project Manager $240,000 to $250,000 annually
• Senior Project Manager II $270,000 to $280,000 annually

The Senior Project Manager II role includes direct management and construction oversight of Owner Authorized Representatives. Both roles provide functional direction across project schedules, cost control, dispute resolution, contract administration, and quality control.

Candidates who meet one of the following combinations of qualifications will be considered for this position.

• C. Five years of experience in educational facility construction, public works, or large commercial projects, which may include projects outside California
• D. Graduation from a recognized college or university with a degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management
• E. A Certified Construction Manager credential from the Construction Management Association of America may substitute for the education requirement

Qualification path two

• A. Twenty five years of full time paid professional project or construction management experience
• B. Twenty of the twenty five years must be managing large programs with projects having construction values of more than $50 million, not cumulative
• C. Five years of experience in educational facility construction, public works, or large commercial projects, which may include projects outside California

Preferred qualifications

• Design Build experience
• Experience using Building Information Modeling
• Experience with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certified projects or the Collaborative for High Performing Schools
• Experience with Division of the State Architect construction and design processes
• A valid California registration as an Architect or Professional Engineer
