Job summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Project Manager – Geotechnical Engineering to lead geotechnical projects in Parsippany, NJ. You will manage client interactions, provide staff training, and oversee reports, plans, and foundation designs, while collaborating with leaders across the firm.

Responsibilities include mentoring staff, expanding client services, coordinating budgets and schedules, and supporting excavation designs and 3D analyses.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering and a B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer licensure.
  • 10+ years of geotechnical experience.
  • Experience with geotechnical investigations, construction inspections, and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, construction plans, and geotechnical recommendations.
  • Prepare proposals, coordinate projects, manage clients and billings.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and review of work for staff.
  • Expand services to existing clients and develop new ones while maintaining billable work.
  • Support excavation designs and Plaxis 3D analyses.
  • Log borings and perform observation during construction projects.
  • Manage multiple projects within budgets and schedules.

Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Project Manager – Geotechnical Engineering to join its collaborative team in Parsippany, NJ. This individual will serve a key function in managing client interaction, providing staff training and project leadership, preparation of technical reports, specifications, plans, designing foundations, retaining walls, and other geotechnical aspects of construction. In this role, you will have the opportunity to partner cross‑functionally with top industry leadership in an ever‑evolving environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Preparation of technical reports, specifications, construction plans, and geotechnical recommendations;
  • Preparation of proposals, coordinating projects, managing clients and managing billings;
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and review of work for staff;
  • Expand services to existing clients, and the potential to develop new clients while maintaining strong billability;
  • Support of excavation designs and Plaxis 3D analysis;
  • Log borings and perform observation during construction projects;
  • Perform and manage multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines. Monitor budgets, schedules, and project timelines; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field;
  • Professional Engineer licensure;
  • 10+ years related geotechnical experience;
  • Prior experience with geotechnical investigations and construction inspections;
  • Office experience with investigation and field work coordination, geotechnical reports, and specification writing;
  • Prior field experience in: earthwork, driven and drilled pile construction, load testing, footings subgrade and backfill inspection, ground improvements, retaining wall design and construction, and excavation support system design and inspection;
  • Desired software knowledge: gINT, Slide/SLOPE/W, PLAXIS, LPILE, GRLWEAP, MSEW, SHAKE;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
  • Some field work is required; and
  • Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.

Pay Range

$117,000—$171,000 USD

Certain US jurisdictions require Langan to include an estimate of salary or hourly ranges. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm’s annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
