Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Manager in Engineering (Wastewater) to lead municipal water and wastewater projects in California.

The role focuses on client-facing coordination between HDR design teams, marketing, and project delivery, guiding multi-discipline teams through complex projects with emphasis on technical excellence and regulatory compliance. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, 10+ years of related experience, and professional licensure; Master’s degree

• Master's degree and PMP certification are advantageous.
• Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of strategies for municipal water/wastewater clients.
• Act as the key client-facing conduit between the client and HDR design teams.
• Establish client relations and engage in marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings.
• Participate in industry associations, ideally supporting such organizations.
• Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of multidiscipline projects with high technical complexity.
• Supervise large project staffs and mentor engineers and project managers.
• Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently.
• Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions at project sites.
• Coordinate staffing and workload to complete documents on schedule.
• Work with project controls for project reviews.
• Implement QA/QC procedures.
• Execute training for personnel per strategic plans.
• Maintain professional engineering registration.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Senior Project Manager Engineering (Wastewater)

Primary Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of strategies/initiatives for municipal water/wastewater clients.
• Act as the key client-facing conduit between the client and HDR design teams.
• Establish client relations and engage in marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings.
• Actively participate in industry associations, ideally in a role supporting such organizations (e.g., California Water Environment Association).
• Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of small to large multidiscipline projects with high technical complexity; larger projects typically exceed $5million and involve a large project staff.
• Supervise large project staffs and mentor less-experienced engineers and project managers.
• Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently.
• Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions at project sites with Project Managers and technical professionals.
• Coordinate staffing and workload to complete documents on schedule.
• Work with the Business/Accounting Manager, Project Controller, or Company Controller and Department Manager or Managing Principal for project reviews.
• Implement QA/QC procedures.
• Execute training for personnel as established by strategic plans.
• Maintain professional engineering registration.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree
• PMP Certification

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• 10 years of related experience
• Minimum 5 years of project management experience
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position (e.g., PE or P.Eng)
• MS Office and MS Project experience (Access experience is a plus)
• Demonstrated leadership, business development, and strategic planning skills
