TekPro is partnered with a major electrical contractor in Chicagoland in their search for a Senior Project Manager! This person will manage large-scale electrical construction projects for data centers. This a permanent position with a world-class company.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale data center electrical construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex, high-value electrical infrastructure projects with a strong emphasis on cost control, scheduling, safety, and quality. This is a leadership role requiring strong technical knowledge, strategic foresight, and exceptional communication skills to coordinate stakeholders and drive results.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end project management of multi-million-dollar data center electrical construction projects.
• Coordinate and communicate with internal teams, clients, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project goals are met.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and forecasts using project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
• Oversee procurement, equipment/material deliveries, and manpower planning.
• Identify and manage project risks, change orders, and conflicts while ensuring resolution aligns with contractual obligations.
• Ensure strict adherence to all safety policies and procedures, promoting a culture of safety throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain project documentation, reports, RFIs, submittals, and compliance with specifications and standards.
• Review engineering drawings and specifications, ensuring constructability and code compliance.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to project engineers, assistant project managers, and field supervisors.
• Regularly report project status to senior management, including financial performance, scheduling updates, and risk assessments.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (required).
• Minimum 8–10 years of progressive project management experience inthe electrical construction industry, with at least 5 years managing large-scale data center projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and local building codes.
• Proficient in construction project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera, AutoCAD).
• Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage complex schedules and budgets effectively.
• PMP certification or equivalent is a plus.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Combination of office and field work, including active construction sites.
• May require travel to project locations as needed.
