Wunderlich-Malec Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Manager - Controls in Richmond, VA to independently manage projects through initiation to completion.

You will lead cross-functional teams, control costs and schedules, and foster strong client and vendor relationships to deliver value and ensure project success. The role requires a proactive, organized leader with strong communication skills, background in engineering or construction management, and 6–8 years of PM experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
6–8 years of Project Manager experience, with oversight of small to large projects.
Excellent communication and organizational skills; servant leadership mindset.
Experience in data center construction and build-out is desirable.
PMP certification is beneficial.

Responsibilities

Independently manage small to large-scale projects from initiation to completion.
Control project costs, schedules, and resources while managing client/vendor relations.
Guide clients in decision-making to ensure solutions meet business needs.
Lead and develop a high-performing project team and ensure project success.
Represent the client as an OPM when needed and manage third parties.
Maintain alignment with company policies and employee handbook.

We have a Senior Project Manager - Controls opportunity in Richmond, VA. This person is responsible for independently managing small to large-scale projects for clients, ensuring successful delivery from initiation through completion. This role focuses on controlling project costs, schedules, and resources while fostering strong relationships with clients and vendors. The Project Manager guides clients in decision-making, ensures solutions align with business needs, and delivers projects that meet or exceed expectations. This position requires proactive leadership, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manages small to large-scale projects for clients independently with minimal oversight
May be responsible for managing and supporting multiple projects at once
Develops, manages, and controls project costs
Develops, manages, and controls project schedules
Manages and directs resources appropriately for the project
Manages the end-to-end project lifecycle for assigned projects
Guides the client in project decisions, ensuring the best solution for their business
Responsible for leading and developing a high-performing team to deliver on goals and objectives of the project
Manages vendor and client relations to ensure that service expectations are developed and met
Maintains regular contact with client and reports on project progress, issues, and accomplishments to both the client & Wunderlich-Malec
Accountable for project and/or program success
Responsible for representing the client as an OPM as needed, managing third parties as a client representative
Responsible for understanding, staying updated on, and abiding by the Employee Handbook as written

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree (preferably Engineering, Construction Management or related field)

6-8 years of experience as a Project Manager
Experience in Data Center construction and build out desired
PMP certification beneficial
