ABOUT THE JOB

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Senior Project Manager responsible for managing all aspects of projects, including client relationships, schedules, budgets, and profitability through to project completion. The Senior Project Manager will collaborate with Superintendents, Quality Control Managers, and Site Safety Officers to ensure contractual requirements are met and exceeded. Additionally, the Senior Project Manager will work with and mentor other Project Managers to share knowledge across projects.

Job Functions:

Core Leadership & Company Alignment

  • Ensure Tepa Core Values are practiced by all staff.
  • Communicate project, client, and staff concerns to Regional EVP regularly.
  • Coordinate with HR/Recruiting on hiring and disciplinary actions.
  • Possess decision-making authority at the project level as designated by the Regional EVP.

Project Management & Execution

  • Manage projects from inception to closeout, ensuring scope, goals, and deliverables are achieved.
  • Oversee all project phases: entitlement, design, permitting, bidding, contracting, construction, billing, and closeout.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage project timelines to meet deadlines.
  • Establish site offices and ensure effective communication channels.
  • Maintain open communication with field staff and resolve issues promptly.
  • Evaluate performance of Superintendents, Quality Control Managers, and Project Engineers.
  • Manage contracts with subcontractors and vendors, ensuring compliance with terms.

Budgeting & Financial Oversight

  • Create project schedules using P6 as required.
  • Establish and update project budgets in Unanet within 14 days of award.
  • Perform budget development, forecasting, management, and cost estimation.
  • Generate and deliver Unanet reports as needed.
  • Conduct cost and risk analyses, providing recommendations to management.
  • Ensure bonding and insurance meet Tepa standards.

Quality, Risk & Control

  • Implement quality control and assurance procedures.
  • Manage submittal processes with Project Engineers and Quality Control staff.
  • Track RFIs and ensure timely responses.
  • Verify Superintendent’s 3-Week Look Ahead Schedule.
  • Conduct cost and risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.

Team & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage relationships with consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and specialty contractors.
  • Conduct pre-qualification and procurement of subcontractors.
  • Train Project Managers, Quality Control Managers, Superintendents, and Site Safety Officers to meet standards.
  • Support Proposal Management and Business Development teams with proposals.
  • Contribute to technical proposals and approaches as needed.

Design & Technical Oversight

  • Lead drawing reviews, bid reviews, and onsite construction management.
  • Manage the design process for Design-Build projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction or engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience on Federal, State, or Local government projects.
  • Over 10 years of construction project management experience in new and vertical construction.
  • Previous experience with Design-Build projects is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with field staff, office staff, clients, management, and subcontractors.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective project management control systems in compliance with contractual requirements, including oversight on construction activities.
  • Must be able to obtain a federal base pass and pass background checks.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Solid understanding of project planning, resource allocation, leadership, production methods, and coordination.

Travel Expectations

  • May require overnight stays and travel to project sites, approximately 20%-35% per month.
  • Travel expenses will be paid and managed by Tepa with prior approval.
