GAI Consultants Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Power Delivery Engineering team. The role focuses on managing multi‑discipline design and construction projects in electric distribution and civil engineering, fostering client relationships, and leading engineering staff to deliver high‑value projects.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Energy, Institutional, Industrial, and Manufacturing clients.
  • Lead business development pursuits, drafting statements of qualifications, project scopes, schedules, budgets, and fees.
  • Provide design, management, and technical direction for multi‑discipline projects.
  • Facilitate client team meetings, record and publish meeting notes.
  • Assist engineers in developing scope of work documents and reviewing design submittals.
  • Apply broad knowledge of electric utility projects and ensure quality control and quality assurance.
  • Develop and maintain document control processes.
  • Mentor engineers and staff, providing training and guidance.
  • Manage assigned projects, ensuring delivery of scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and profitability.
  • Coordinate and develop proposed scopes, schedules, and fees.
  • Use project management techniques to increase productivity and efficiency.
  • Work with Project Controls/Accounting to monitor cost, billings, and profitability; develop recovery plans as needed.
  • Act as primary client contact, win new work, and build customer relationships.
  • Establish and refine engineering processes and SOPs to enhance team performance and delivery predictability.
Competency
  • Knowledge of electric utility transmission line engineering and design.
  • Project management skills with intermediate practices for productivity and efficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; strong organizational skills.
  • Expertise in developing project schedules, cost budgets, and financial analysis.
  • Mastery of project management financial concepts, pricing, cost budgeting, and profit calculation (Deltek required).
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6, Microsoft Office Suite, and other project management tools.

Minimum Years of Experience
  • 18 years total engineering or technical experience, with at least 10 years as a Project Manager in a consulting or similar environment.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline (required).
  • Advanced technical degree or MBA strongly preferred.
Certification / Licensure
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred; desire to obtain is acceptable.
Technical Responsibilities
  • Perform required engineering calculations and design.
  • Master fundamentals of project management financial concepts.
  • Proficient with MS Office, CAD, document management, database, and reporting tools.
  • Experience with Deltek for Professional Services (ERP) preferred.
Project and Task Management
  • Approximately 40% of duties focus on project management; 10% on technical delivery.
  • Deliver scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and profitability for all managed projects.
  • Plan and manage high‑value, high‑risk multidisciplinary projects.
  • Directly manage >$5 million annual billings; maximum individual project size $5 million.
  • Analyze project performance data and develop recovery plans.
Business Development Responsibilities
  • Up to 40% of duties may involve business development.
  • Lead significant business development pursuits and act as primary seller for client or group.
  • Engage as technical liaison, expand industry network.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Assemble and lead large, multi‑specialty project teams across locations.
  • Mentor PMs and technical staff.
Communication Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and garner support.
  • Read and interpret business, technical and regulatory documents.
  • Write reports and business correspondence.
  • Present information effectively to managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Travel Requirements
  • Travel to GAI and client locations as needed; up to 10% of time.
