Job summary

Job description

The Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Enterprise Services (DES), Bureau of Information Technology Services (BITS), is recruiting for a Senior Project Manager.

This position has the ability to work remotely up to 5 days per week but will be required to report to the 201 E. Washington Ave office in downtown Madison on occasion to complete training and certain tasks, or due to operational need.

Position Summary

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating project management activities related to DHS priority initiatives and projects utilizing best practice project management methodology and tools. You will be responsible for performing complex analysis and providing advice to customers, managers, and staff in the area of business process improvement. This position also provides advice and assistance to the DES leadership, and to other division administrators and DHS leaders on issues of department-wide importance and/or of priority to specific divisions

Salary Information

The starting pay is between $51.39 and $59.28 per hour (approximately between $106,900 and $123,300 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former employees is based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as an IS Business Automation Consultant Administrator and is in pay schedule/range 07/32.

Job Details

Employees must have access to secure high-speed internet for remote work option. Mileage reimbursement to the employee’s headquarter location is not provided.Remote work flexibility will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.

For positions that allow remote working flexibility, working outside of Wisconsin or in bordering cities will not be allowed except in extremely limited circumstances due to the need to report to an office location in Wisconsin on short notice.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all the following:

  • Experience managing multiple, concurrent, medium sized ($250K budget with duration of 1 year or longer) projects within the following workstreams: business, vendor, organizational change management, and technology.
  • Experience delivering projects using adaptive, hybrid, and predictive project management methodologies including stage gate governance.
  • Experience serving as a project manager to at least 3 large ($1M budget, 18-month duration) projects through the entire project management life cycle from initiation to close out.
  • Experience evaluating project success at completion using key performance indicators (KPIs) against initial project goals or desired outcomes.

In addition, highly qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience using the critical path method in project delivery.
  • Experience performing both project maager and business analyst functions in multiple projects.
  • Experience recovering and completing at least two medium projects ($250K budget with duration of 1 year or longer) that are off track in scope, timeline, or budget baselines.
