Job summary

M. J. Electric, LLC, a Quanta Services company, is seeking a Senior Project Manager to provide oversight and technical leadership for overhead transmission and distribution projects across the region.

You will coordinate with project managers, customers, and crews to meet budgets, schedules, and safety goals, while ensuring quality and regulatory compliance throughout project lifecycles.

Qualifications

• Extensive (10+) overhead transmission and distribution line construction experience.
• Extensive project management skills with a track record of achievement of complex projects.
• Knowledge, interpretation and administration of collective bargaining agreements.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiations skills.
• Strong PC skills and software proficiency.
• Strong managerial/leadership skills.
• Ability to provide oversight to numerous projects throughout a large geographic area
• Customer service skills
• Supervisory Experience
• Ability to oversee large complex projects, portfolio of small projects or be a single point of contact for a large customer
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferably with a Power Distribution Option

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Project Managers and customers to coordinate crews and contractors to meet contracting requirements, budgets, forecasts and schedules.
• Demonstrate safety leadership and promote safe work practices aligned with company policies.
• Coordinate the bidding of overhead transmission and distribution projects.
• Assist Project Managers with project scope development and authorization through completion.
• Keep senior management updated on progress, opportunities, and trends.
• Evaluate project progress and help correct deficiencies.
• Consult with Utilities, Clients and Owners regarding design requirements and bid specifications.
• Ensure compliance with design requirements and tolerances.
• Develop and monitor project accounting, reporting, costs, scheduling, procurement, and budgeting.
• Interface with key customers to communicate construction activities.
• Address environmental, regulatory, and governmental considerations.
• Delegate tasks and foster accountability.
• Assist in hiring, orientation and development of Project Managers.
• Track key performance metrics and stay current with PM trends.
• Monitor equipment purchases, usage, and maintenance throughout the region.

About this Role – Senior Project Manager

We are looking for a talented Senior Project Manager that has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for providing oversight, coordination, management support and technical expertise for all aspects of overhead transmission and distribution line construction, maintenance, modification and replacement.

What You’ll Do

• Work closely with Project Managers and customers to ensure crews and contractors are coordinated to work efficiently and meet contracting requirements, budgets, forecasts and schedules. Ensures that barriers to construction progress are removed in a timely manner
• Demonstrate safety leadership by supporting the implementation and management of the MJE Safety Management System.Promote proactive and preventive safety activitiesby observing,analyzing, encouraging safe work behaviorsandcorrecting unsafe conditions. Integrate safety intoproject plans, establish safety goals,reinforce safety policies and procedures, support safetytraining, and monitor safety metrics. Support and coach supervisors and employees, provide feedback to encourage learning and create awareness, set priorities and focus on continuous improvement
• Coordinate the bidding of overhead transmission and distribution projects
• Assist Project Managers with project scope development and project authorization through completion
• Ensure that MJE Senior Management is kept current on the progress of construction projects, business opportunities and industry trends
• Systematically and regularly appraise and evaluate project progress against established goals, timelines and objectives. Provide assistance to Project Managers to correct deficiencies in these areas
• Consult with Utilities, Clients and Owners regarding design requirements, job specifications, bid requirements and offer technical expertise regarding construction solutions
• Understand critical design requirements of on-going projects and continuously monitor construction quality to ensure compliance within established tolerances
• Promote and develop common systems and processes to provide proper accounting, reporting of project costs, customer billing, scheduling, material procurement, record keeping, documentation and budgeting by Project Managers
• Interface with key customers to ensure that construction activities in affected areas are communicated and understood
• Act to ensure key project input including environmental, regulatory and governmental relations, public relations and landowner concerns are appropriately addressed on construction projects throughout the region
• Delegate activities, responsibilities, and authorities, ensuring appropriate levels and assignments of accountability are defined and understood
• Assist in the hiring, orientation and career development of Project Managers
• Assist with the development and tracking of key performance metrics
• Stay current on construction management trends and ensure Project Management personnel are informed of significant changes
• Monitor equipment type, purchases, usage, inspection, maintenance, and servicing throughout the region
