M. J. Electric, LLC, a Quanta Services company, seeks an Operations Manager to oversee overhead transmission and distribution line and substation construction maintenance. You will coordinate with project teams, manage budgets, and drive compliance and quality across multiple sites.

Responsibilities include safety leadership, scope development support, and keeping leadership updated on progress and trends. Strong leadership across a large geographic area is required.

Qualifications

• Extensive project management experience with complex projects.
• Ability to analyze complex information and make decisions.
• Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting methods.
• Ability to oversee numerous projects over a large geographic area.
• Extensive 7+ years of utility construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Project Managers and customers to ensure crews and contractors are aligned with budgets, forecasts, and schedules.
• Demonstrate safety leadership through the Safety Management System.
• Assist Project Managers with project scope development and authorization through completion.
• Keep senior and joint venture management informed on progress, opportunities, and trends.
• Regularly assess project progress against goals, timelines, and objectives and help address deficiencies.
• Understand design requirements and monitor construction quality within tolerances.
• Develop and maintain systems for budgeting, cost reporting, and procurement.
• Interface with customers to ensure clear communication of construction activities.
• Prepare budgets and forecasts; manage cost accounting and variances.

About this Role – Operations Manager

We are looking for a talented Operations Manager who has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for providing oversight, coordination, management support and technical expertise for all aspects of overhead transmission and distribution line and substation construction maintenance.

What You’ll Do

• Work closely with Project Managers and customers to assure crews and contractors are coordinated to work efficiently and meet contracting requirements, budgets, forecasts and schedules. Ensures that barriers to construction progress are removed in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate safety leadership by supporting the implementation and management of the MJE Safety Management System.
• Assist Project Managers with project scope development and project authorization through completion.
• Ensure that MJE Senior Management and Joint Venture Management is kept current on the progress of construction projects, business opportunities and industry trends.
• Systematically and regularly appraise and evaluate project progress against established goals, timelines and objectives. Provide assistance to Project Managers to correct deficiencies in these areas.
• Understand critical design requirements of on-going projects and continuously monitor construction quality to ensure compliance within established tolerances.
• Promote and develop common systems and processes to provide for proper accounting, reporting of project costs, customer billing, scheduling, material procurement, record keeping, documentation and budgeting by Project Managers.
• Interface with key customers to ensure that construction activities in affected areas are communicated and understood.
• Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), and analyzes and reports variances.

What You’ll Bring

• Extensive project management skills with a track record of achievement of complex projects.

• Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting methods
• Ability to provide oversight to numerous projects throughout a large geographic area
• Extensive (7+ years’) utility construction experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Accounting or Business Administration
