Job summary

Shiel Sexton Company in Indianapolis seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead complex construction efforts from bid to closeout. You will guide a team, coordinate with clients, A/E contacts, and subcontractors, and ensure project goals meet design, budget, and schedule.

This role requires 10–12 years of commercial construction experience, Procore and related CM tools, and certifications such as OSHA 30 and Procore, with leadership and mentoring responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Recommendations from SSC operations team members Sr. PM or higher are required.
  • Familiarity with CM software and related tools (Procore, Vista, Bluebeam, MS Office) is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide total responsibility for a project from solicitation and development through closeout.
  • Lead and manage a project team, coordinating with clients, A/E contacts, and subcontractors.
  • Oversee value engineering and preconstruction activities to achieve project goals.
  • Direct project financials, risk management, and scheduling to meet budget and timeline.

Senior Project Manager (SPM) provides team leadership to oversee the total construction efforts; providing administrative and technical direction to ensure each project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, schedule, and specifications. Primary responsibilities include total responsibility for a project, from soliciting, developing, and evaluating big packages, thru subcontract award, construction and close out. The SPM is also responsible for managing all aspects of value engineering and preconstruction activities, as well as overseeing a team and executing all aspects of a successful construction project and close outs. PMs are experienced, reliable, and professional leaders who have differentiated themselves by consistently demonstrating their ability to direct successful outcomes on challenging projects.

  • Combines distinguished conceptual thinking and people development skills when guiding teams towards their professional development while maintain through communications, delegation of responsibility, and delegation of authority.
  • Shows exceptional drive for continuous learning with great stress tolerance by taking on unforeseen conditions, design document coordination conflicts, subcontractor coordination, and taking on additional assignments required by operating need.
  • Displays well‑rounded financial awareness when reporting cost projections, allowance tracking, contingency management and overall project profit.
Qualifications

This is a position for individuals with ten (10) to twelve (12) years’ experience in commercial construction or qualified experience including minimum 12 months experience in a Project Manager II or equivalent level role; Demonstrated action toward mastery of skills required to manage business process business development, and strategic goals.

  • Certifications required: (1) 30 Hour OSHA certification, (2) Procore software certification.
  • Required to obtain one of the following additional certifications: (1) LEED, (2) Pull Scheduling, (3) Construction Finance, or (4) SSC Field Leadership Training; or CM related, approved certification program.
  • Recommendations from two (2) members of SSC operations team, Sr. PM or higher, independent operations management, quality management, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of CM applications including but not limited to Procore, Vista, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Applications.
  • General understanding of CM theories – company mission, vision, and goals; identity, branding, business development.
  • Eager to engage in personal and team career development with an active interest in mentoring others.
