Job summary

Jordan Foster Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee all phases of large infrastructure projects in Texas. You will lead teams, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure quality and compliance with standards.

The role requires a proven track record in heavy civil construction, strong leadership, and excellent communication with clients and regulators. A PMP certification is a plus and a valid TXDL is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent).
  • Ten years of construction experience with at least three years TXDoT experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage construction projects from concept to completion, ensuring goals, timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing all aspects of construction projects, including budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and quality control. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in construction management, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of delivering successful projects on time and within budget.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage construction projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to project goals, timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Develop project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, milestones, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and expenditures, including cost estimation, procurement, invoicing, and financial reporting.
  • Monitor and control project progress, risks, issues, and changes, and implement corrective actions as needed to keep projects on track.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to assess construction activities, quality of workmanship, safety compliance, and adherence to specifications.
  • Lead project meetings, communicate project status updates, milestones, and key decisions to stakeholders, and ensure effective collaboration and alignment.
  • Manage project documentation, including contracts, permits, drawings, specifications, change orders, and closeout documents.
  • Supervise project teams, including project engineers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and support staff, and provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship.
  • Maintain open communication channels with client, regulator, or other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Operations Manager and General Superintendent on the allocation of shared resources such as personnel and equipment.
  • Serve as company representative at required project meetings or hearings and prepare documentation, as necessary.
  • Perform an in-depth review of all essential elements of projects assigned to identify challenges to mitigate or opportunities to realize.
  • Ensure compliance with project requirements, specifications, safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
  • Ensure all on-site compliance with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, and company policies.
  • Apply expert-level knowledge in heavy civil construction, materials, equipment, and risk management.
  • Regular attendance is required according to company policy to ensure the crew can operate at the normal efficiency level.
  • Performs other duties of a similar or related nature as assigned.
Qualifications Required Skills/Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, techniques, materials, equipment, and industry standards.
  • Excellent project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, risk management, and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in project management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective leadership, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, team members, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Experience with contract management, subcontractor/vendor management, and procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with specifications, standards, regulations, permits, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent understanding of industry practices, processes, and standards.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent combination of technical training and/or extensive experience in construction, design, finance, and management required.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of related construction experience and in managing construction projects required, with a minimum of three (3) years of TXDoT experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager in the construction industry, with a track record of successfully managing large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clear MVR.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including ground in varying weather conditions.
  • Regularly sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/workday.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • Occasionally climb stairs or ladders, etc.
  • Regularly work near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Exposure to outdoor environment with machinery/equipment in the surrounding area.
  • This position requires the use and operation of a personal and/or company vehicle.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment, including steel-toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.
  • Able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must be able to push/pull 20+ lbs.
  • Must be able to lift/carry 20+ lbs.
