Senior Project Manager

Location: Claremont, CA

Responsibilities
  • Lead asset renewal, replacement, and deferred maintenance projects with budgets up to $2,000,000.
  • Plan, budget, and oversee projects identified through the annual facilities capital budget, the evolving CARR plan, and the long‑term integrated facilities plan.
  • Maintain and manage the CARR annual budget and spreadsheet to ensure accurate projected deferred maintenance dates.
  • Coordinate cost estimates, project budgets, and cost controls while managing scope, schedule, and design decisions.
  • Lead project teams through design and construction, secure approvals, and ensure compliance with quality standards and regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for architects, contractors, vendors, consultants, and external agencies, addressing contractual obligations and performance.
  • Manage permits, inspections, and code compliance with city, state, county, and federal authorities.
  • Prepare and evaluate RFPs, bids, and contract documents; recommend award decisions.
  • Document project progress through schedules, reports, punch lists, and as‑built drawings; ensure timely commissioning, turn‑over, and warranty work.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and staff the campus Emergency Management Committee as needed.
  • Attend after‑hours on‑call rotation and enforce safety guidelines in accordance with OSHA and CAL‑OSHA requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum five years of construction‑management experience with increasing responsibilities, including budgeting, project management, and supervising contractors.
  • Experience with higher‑education facilities or similar environments preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured under the College’s authorized driver policy.
  • Strong budgeting, supervisory, and organizational skills; ability to lead, negotiate, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction documents, applicable codes, and industry practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CAD, and other construction‑management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and problem‑solving skills.
Background and Safety Requirements

Candidate must undergo a full consumer background check. A physical agility test may be required for positions that involve physical work. Health‑safety policies include OSHA and CAL‑OSHA compliance.

Salary, Benefits & Work Hours

Salary range: $120,000‑$150,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Work schedule: Full‑time, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday‑Friday (may require overtime, weekend or evening work). On‑call rotation is possible.

This is a permanent, exempt, 12‑month position.
