Job description

Role description
Senior Project Manager
The Role

UST is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead delivery of data platform, machine learning, and cloud initiatives across our healthcare payer business. The role owns schedules, scope, risks, budgets, and stakeholder alignment for programs built on AWS, with Databricks as the primary data and ML platform and AWS AgentCore as the foundation for agentic AI systems. The work spans healthcare payer data domains, including claims, clinical, provider, and Medicare Advantage data. The ideal candidate moves between executive conversations and technical detail, challenges estimates, spots architectural dependencies early, and manages the regulatory and operational realities of sensitive member and provider data.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of multi-team programs spanning data ingestion, Databricks lakehouse build-outs, ML model development and deployment, and AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Build and maintain integrated project plans, roadmaps, milestone tracking, resource forecasts, and budget reporting for complex, multi-phase initiatives.
  • Partner with solution architects, data engineers, ML engineers, and AgentCore/agentic systems developers to scope work, sequence dependencies, and define realistic delivery commitments.
  • Identify, track, and mitigate risks and issues, including data quality gaps, claims or provider data access constraints, model validation timelines, and cloud security approvals.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies or hybrid delivery governance as appropriate, and drive continuous improvement in team processes and delivery metrics.
  • Translate technical status and tradeoffs into clear, actionable updates for executives, clinical and business stakeholders, and compliance partners.
  • Ensure delivery adheres to HIPAA, data privacy, security, and enterprise governance requirements, including coordination with compliance, legal, and information security teams.
  • Manage vendor and third-party relationships where applicable, including SOWs, deliverable acceptance, and performance tracking.
  • Coach and develop project team members, and foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and quality.

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

What You Need
Required
  • 8+ years of project or program management experience, with at least 4 years leading technical delivery on data, analytics, cloud, or AI initiatives.
  • Proven track record managing programs in healthcare payer environments, with working familiarity with claims, clinical, provider, and/or Medicare Advantage data domains and their regulatory context.
  • Solid technical background in cloud data platforms, with hands‑on understanding of AWS services (e.g., S3, IAM, Glue, Lambda, EKS/ECS, networking and security fundamentals) and Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, workflows, and ML lifecycle concepts).
  • Working knowledge of machine learning delivery lifecycles, including data preparation, model development, validation, deployment, and monitoring, sufficient to ask the right questions and assess technical risk.
  • Familiarity with generative AI and agentic system concepts; experience with AWS AgentCore or comparable agent frameworks is a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and vendor relationships across multi‑million‑dollar programs.
  • Strong command of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, SAFe, and/or hybrid) and tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Smartsheet, or MS Project.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior executives and technical teams alike.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and data security requirements in a regulated enterprise environment.
Preferred
  • PMP, PgMP, PMI‑ACP, SAFe Agilist, or equivalent project/program management certification.
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect – Associate, or Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate or Machine Learning Associate.
  • Experience with Medicare Advantage risk adjustment, HEDIS/Stars reporting, or CMS compliance programs.
  • Prior experience delivering AI/ML programs in a regulated industry such as healthcare, insurance, or financial services.
