Job summary

Clark Construction is seeking a Senior Project Manager in Charleston to lead administrative and technical management of projects, serving as the single point of contact and driving project progress on water/wastewater facilities.

The role requires 5–9+ years of construction experience, a relevant degree, and proven leadership. You will coordinate with owners, engineers, and subcontractors, ensuring on-time completion and strict safety standards on active job sites.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
  • 5–9+ years construction experience; water/wastewater facilities preferred.
  • DBIA and LEED accreditation a plus.
  • Experience delivering projects from start to finish.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team; 2+ years supervisory.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, and schedule.
  • Manage project team and develop direct reports.
  • Prepare monthly job status reports.
  • Secure permits and verify subs' insurance.
  • Lead project meetings and coordinate work activity.
  • Maintain project records and correspondence.
  • Support proposals and presentations as requested.
  • Develop positive relationships with owners and engineering firms.
  • Close out projects effectively.
  • Understand contracts and parties involved.
  • Monitor and ensure safety on site.

Job description

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the administrative and technical management of Clark projects. The Senior Project Manager functions as the point person for the project and steers the project forward. Successful candidates will be able to share their passion for and dedication to getting the job done.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise all activities related to contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, and schedule.
  • Have thorough knowledge of company's contracts and understanding of all parties involved
  • Secure all required permits and verify insurance coverage for subs
  • Schedule and facilitate all project meetings required to successfully coordinate work activity
  • Supervise and manage project team members
  • Train and develop direct reports utilizing on the job and internal and external training or development opportunities
  • Have thorough knowledge of all major project issues and priorities; prepare and submit monthly job status reports
  • Provide general administrative and technical leadership for the project. Maintain all project records and monitor correspondence
  • Supervise close out of project
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with counterparts at owner and engineering firms
  • Participate in proposals and presentations as requested
Basic Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree required in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field or relevant experience. Graduate degree in engineering or business a plus
  • 5-9+ years construction experience required; working for a general contractor on water/wastewater treatment facilities highly preferred. DBIA and LEED Accreditation a plus
  • Experience managing projects successfully from start to finish.
  • Skilled at negotiating and developing relationships with owners and subcontractors
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team; minimum 2 years supervisory experience
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Passion for the work and industry a must

Clark offers a total compensation package that includes base salary, bonus potential, and a comprehensive benefits package including health/dental/vision benefits, paid time off, retirement/401k, and Company Contribution plan. Additional benefits include life insurance, commuter benefit, short & long term disability, fitness reimbursement, FSA, tuition reimbursement, back-up daycare, tutoring & family support benefits, EAP/Work-Life assistance, and a holiday contribution program. For this role the base salary range is $110,000 - 225,000. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. Base pay is one part of the Total Compensation Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.

The Physical Side of the Role

This is an active, hands-on role. You can expect to be on your feet frequently, navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists. The work is physically demanding and requires a full range of motion, including bending, kneeling, and reaching. You'll need to be comfortable frequently lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. This role requires the ability to communicate effectively, as well as visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work. The role does include desk time in the office that may require prolonged periods of sitting for tasks like computer work, document review, and meetings.

Your Work Environment

You’ll spend a significant amount of your time on active construction sites, which means being adaptable to all kinds of weather and moderate to loud noise levels, and comfortable in elevated or confined work areas with moving mechanical equipment and with the fast-paced nature of a project in progress. You will also spend time in a typical office setting with moderate noise levels.
