Job summary

Appleton Finn, a leading heavy civil contractor in Southern California, seeks an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a major project segment from pre-construction through completion, ensuring safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will have 12+ years in heavy civil construction, experience with highway/bridge infrastructure, and a proven track record managing $100M+ programs. Caltrans/LA Metro experience and delivery via CM/GC or design-build are highly valued.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
• Experience delivering major highway, bridge, roadway, transit or transportation infrastructure projects.
• Experience managing projects valued at $100M+.
• Strong understanding of project financials, scheduling, contracts, risk management and project controls.
• Caltrans and/or LA Metro experience preferred.
• CM/GC, Design-Build or other alternative delivery experience highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large project teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
• Strong communication, leadership and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the successful delivery of a major segment of a complex heavy civil project.
• Take overall responsibility for P&L, cost control, schedule, forecasting and overall project performance.
• Lead and mentor Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents and wider field teams.
• Manage subcontractors, consultants and key project partners throughout construction.
• Oversee change orders, claims, risk management and commercial strategy.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, agencies, designers and other key stakeholders.
• Drive project planning, coordination and execution while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
• Support pre-construction activities and ensure a smooth transition through construction and final completion.
