About the Opportunity

An established, employee-owned structural steel fabrication and erection contractor is hiring a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to support projects throughout California and Nevada.

This role offers ownership of projects from estimating and preconstruction through fabrication, field erection, and closeout. You'll serve as the primary point of contact for clients while coordinating with engineering, detailing, fabrication, and field teams to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

The organization offers a collaborative environment where project managers work autonomously, contribute to process improvements, and take an active role in project execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage structural steel fabrication and erection projects from initial planning through completion.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and cost tracking.
  • Prepare or support estimates, takeoffs, proposals, and scope reviews.
  • Serve as the primary client contact and communicate project progress, priorities, and issues.
  • Coordinate engineering, detailing, purchasing, fabrication, delivery, and field installation activities.
  • Review project drawings and specifications to clarify scope and execution requirements.
  • Identify scope changes, develop pricing, and manage change orders.
  • Resolve project challenges with internal teams, customers, and field personnel.
  • Maintain project documentation and oversee closeout requirements.
  • Travel regularly to project sites throughout California and Nevada. Travel is expected to be same-day, with no overnight travel anticipated.
Qualifications
  • Direct structural steel project management experience is required, including fabrication and erection.
  • Approximately 3+ years of relevant project management experience for the Project Manager level or 8-10+ years for the Senior Project Manager level.
  • Experience managing project schedules, budgets, financial performance, and client relationships.
  • Ability to independently handle projects from start to finish without dedicated project coordinator or estimator support.
  • Strong organization, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to support regular project site travel.
  • Estimating and takeoff experience is helpful; training is available for candidates with strong structural steel project management experience.
  • Experience with miscellaneous metals, decking, joist systems, or steel detailing is a plus.
  • A college degree is not required.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive base salary based on experience and position level
  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • Employee stock ownership plan participation
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Two weeks of PTO, with flexibility to discuss additional time based on experience
  • 401(k) with up to a 5% company match after one year
  • Company-provided phone, laptop, and credit card
  • Company vehicles available for business travel or mileage reimbursement when using a personal vehicle

Join a growing organization with opportunities to advance into senior project management and leadership. This position provides broad exposure to the full structural steel project lifecycle and the opportunity to contribute to improvements across estimating, fabrication, and field execution.
