Job summary

SOCOTEC Group is seeking a Senior Project Geotechnical Engineer / Senior Geotechnical Engineer for our Salt Lake City, Utah office. The role focuses on leading geotechnical projects, client engagement, and mentorship of junior staff. A PE license and extensive geotechnical experience are required.

Qualifications include a B.S. in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering with MS preferred, and strong communication skills to interact with clients and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist with marketing and business development.
• Prepare geotechnical proposals, scopes of services and fees.
• Respond to technical questions for project solicitations.
• Manage geotechnical projects and advise clients to ensure successful completion.
• Evaluate geologic and seismic hazards and prepare evaluations.
• Prepare geotechnical evaluation reports and maintain client relationships.
• Mentor junior staff and provide direction on engineering work products.

Ninyo & Moore, a SOCOTEC Company is a professional geotechnical and environmental sciences consulting firm providing services in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, geophysics, hydrogeology, soil and materials testing, special inspection, soil and groundwater contamination assessment, site remediation, hazardous building materials, industrial hygiene, and occupational safety.

SOCOTEC has an opening for a Senior Project Geotechnical Engineer or Senior Geotechnical Engineer in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Duties

• Assist with marketing and business development
• Prepare geotechnical proposals, including scopes of services and proposed fees
• Respond to technical questions for project solicitations
• Manage geotechnical projects
• Evaluate geologic and seismic hazards
• Prepare geotechnical evaluation reports
• Maintain client relationships
• Work directly with clients to assure successful project completion
• Provide direction and review engineering work products prepared by others
• Provide technical support and mentorship to junior staff

Education

• B.S. in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required
• M.S. in related field preferred

Required Skills & Experience

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
• Minimum 10+ years of experience in the geotechnical industry performing the duties described above
• Thorough understanding and knowledge of geotechnical engineering
• Geophysical and environmental experience is an additional asset
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Detail-oriented, team player
• Ability to work and meet deadlines under time pressure
