Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead and execute critical operations projects. You will manage the site Consultant Design Team and oversee construction activities for mechanical systems in commercial and process facilities.

This role emphasizes developing and maintaining project management processes, interfacing with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and EHS, and ensuring safety, codes, and standards while delivering on-time, within-budget results.

Qualifications

• B.S. in chemical, mechanical, process or industrial engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in an engineering environment, preferably in design or operations.
• Working knowledge of general water treatment technologies and/or processes.
• Minimum 4 years chemical/mechanical design and project experience in an industrial setting; semiconductor fab experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete project management of multiple projects from inception to execution, including cost control and reporting.
• Lead strategic fab and support project planning for mechanical systems related to new and retrofit construction.
• Develop, review, and approve SAS site construction specifications related to mechanical piping, equipment, and distribution rooms/buildings.
• Provide technical guidance to contracted design teams during facility construction design for review and approval of mechanical connections and materials of construction.
• Interface with site Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and EHS to audit that piping, equipment, and containment meets codes and standards.
• Identify, track, manage and communicate project issues during construction and manage punch lists to resolution.
• Proactively identify and mitigate project risk points for safety and code compliance.
• Perform regular site field observations to verify conditions of ductwork, piping, and equipment and ensure safety and codes.

Position Summary

The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for leading and executing on critical projects that support operations and IWT improvements. This role involves managing the site Consultant Design Team to develop, review, and approve SAS site mechanical specifications and design packages for commercial and process systems, as well as overseeing Construction General Contractor activities related to new and retrofit construction. Additionally, this position contributes to the development and maintenance of overall project management systems and processes.

Role And Responsibilities

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• Complete project management of multiple projects across the Samsung water systems from inception through execution, including cost control and reporting.
• Lead strategic fab and support project planning for mechanical systems related to new and retrofit construction.
• Develop, review, and approve SAS site construction specifications related to mechanical piping, equipment, and the associated distribution rooms and buildings.
• Provide technical guidance to contracted design teams during facility construction design for review and approval of mechanical connections and materials of construction.
• Interfacing with site Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and EHS teams to audit that existing piping, equipment, and secondary containment meets applicable codes and standards.
• Interface between Construction General Contractor, Subcontractor, Consultant Design Team, and various SAS Owner organizations.
• Identifying, tracking, managing, resolving, and communicating project issues during construction including documenting Site Observation Reports and managing construction punch list items to resolution.
• Proactively identifying, managing, and mitigating project risk points for safety and code compliance.
• Performing regular site field observations inspections to verify existing conditions of previously installed ductwork, piping, and equipment, meet safety and code standards.

Skills And Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll need:

Required Education And Experience

• B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, Process or Industrial Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in an Engineering environment, preferably within Design or Operations.
• Working knowledge of general water treatment technologies and/or processes.
• Minimum 4 years chemical/mechanical design and project experience in an industrial setting. Semiconductor fab experience preferred.

Preferred Education And Experience

• 10+ years of experience in a Facilities/Manufacturing, Engineering and/or Project Management environment.
• Advanced knowledge of wastewater treatment systems.
• Basic knowledge of water treatment systems.
• Professional Engineering License a plus.
• PMP Certification a plus.

The current base salary range for this role is between $106,000 - $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
