Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Southern California is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead project engineering for a large, complex construction project. You will coordinate with field operations to ensure information is delivered, understood, and implemented across teams.

The role requires directing engineering staff, overseeing contract documents, cost control, and scheduling while ensuring compliance with codes and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction or similar, and minimum of 12 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Extensive experience in construction engineering principles and techniques.
• Comprehensive knowledge of building construction materials, systems, market conditions, trade practices.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
• Proficient knowledge of accounting principles and cost control procedures.
• Proficient knowledge of estimating, construction costs, scheduling, purchasing, and engineering principles and techniques, various building systems, codes, and requirements.
• Project management of competing demands and adherence to established deadlines.
• Executive presentation delivery with professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience managing staff, able to provide direction, delegation, and performance feedback.
• Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office suite of applications.
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
• Limited travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead project engineering and supervise engineering and administrative policies for a large project.
• Coordinate with field operations to ensure information is delivered and understood.
• Lead, supervise, and develop project Engineering employees and participate in hiring and performance feedback.
• Establish project engineering procedures and start-up processes.
• Manage information flow with design professionals, consultants, owners and trade partners.
