Markent Personnel is assisting a large national heavy civil contractor recruiting a Senior Project Engineer for a major I-95 widening project in the Savannah, GA area. The role focuses on leading the engineering side of interstate widening with major bridge work and new interchanges, coordinating with DOT and field teams.

The candidate should have 5+ years of heavy civil highway/bridge project experience, a civil engineering or related degree, and hands-on submittals, RFIs, cost reporting, and

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project engineering on heavy civil highway/bridge/DOT projects
• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field
• Hands-on with submittals, RFIs, quantities, cost reports and change orders
• Working knowledge of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office
• Bridge experience a plus; DOT experience preferred
• EIT or PE is a plus; Savannah area residency or willingness to relocate

Responsibilities

• Manage submittals and RFIs from initiation to closeout
• Develop and maintain quantity takeoffs, logs, and pay applications
• Track costs against budget and produce monthly cost reports and forecasts
• Create and update project schedules in Primavera P6 with field team
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and material deliveries
• Collaborate with owner, DOT inspectors, and design engineers on changes
• Review plans, specs, traffic control and environmental requirements
• Mentor project and field engineers on the team
• Support PM and Superintendent in field operations on bridge and roadwork

Senior Project Engineer, Heavy Civil / Highway & Bridge

Location: Savannah, GA area

A large national heavy civil contractor is hiring a Senior Project Engineer for a major multiyear I-95 widening project in the Savannah, GA area. This is a strong opportunity for a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer with highway and bridge experience who wants a long runway on a landmark job and a real path to Project Manager. You’ll run the engineering side of an interstate widening with major bridge work and new interchanges, much of it state DOT work. Locals in Savannah and the Lowcountry are great, and candidates ready to relocate are welcome.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Run submittals and RFIs for your scope from start to closeout
• Build and maintain quantity takeoffs, project logs and pay applications
• Track cost against budget and prepare monthly cost reports and forecasts
• Build and update the project schedule in Primavera P6 with the field team
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and material deliveries
• Work with the owner, DOT inspectors and design engineers on change orders and field issues
• Read and interpret plans, specs, traffic control and environmental requirements
• Mentor the project and field engineers on the team
• Support the Project Manager and Superintendent, with real time in the field on bridge and roadway work

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of project engineering experience on heavy civil highway, bridge or DOT projects
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field
• Hands on with submittals, RFIs, quantities, cost reports and change orders
• Working knowledge of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office
• Bridge experience (structures, foundations, drilled shafts or piling) is a plus
• SCDOT, GDOT or other state DOT experience is a plus
• EIT or PE is a plus
• Based in the Savannah area or ready to relocate for a multiyear project
