Job summary

Bernalillo County in Albuquerque, NM is hiring a Senior Project Engineer-Technical Services for the Public Works - Technical Services department. The role assures schedule compliance, manages construction documents, and coordinates with multiple agencies on utilities, drainage, and traffic systems.

Responsibilities include supervising planning, development, and design work, reviewing development projects for ordinance conformance, and leading public hearings.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field as recognized by the State Board of professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
• Nine (9) years of related work experience in an engineering or construction role.
• Equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• CONSTRUCTION – Ensure compliance with project schedule and submittals; compute quantities; prepare construction documents; maintain project records.
• UTILITIES – Review designs; coordinate with other agencies; provide technical assistance for sewer and water systems.
• PROJECT PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT – Supervise and review plans and specifications; assist in master plans and capital improvement plans.
• SPECIAL ASSESSMENT – Plan and monitor special assessments; participate in public hearings and comments on subdivisions.
• DEVELOPMENT REVIEW – Review replats and major subdivision applications for conformance with ordinances; on-site inspections.
• TRAFFIC ENGINEERING – Conduct lighting and speed studies; review traffic plans and MUTCD compliance.
• DRAINAGE – Review drainage plans; coordinate with agencies; prepare specifications for drainage systems.
• VERTICAL DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION – Oversee projects start to finish; manage site development, utilities, structural elements; ensure QA/QC.
