Job summary

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for Mechanical Systems, Externals, and Nacelles (MSEN) to lead cross-functional engineering programs and drive program milestones in a global aerospace setting. The role emphasizes EVM, change management, and rigorous technical leadership.

You will collaborate with engineering, operations, supply chain, finance, and program management to deliver complex aerospace initiatives while advancing program execution capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering with 5 years of relevant aerospace experience, or an advanced degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience leading complex engineering projects or cross-functional technical teams in aerospace, aviation, manufacturing, military, or logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional engineering projects, managing scope, schedule, budget and deliverables.
  • Prepare and present technical and program status updates to CIPT and Pratt & Whitney leadership, clearly communicating progress, risks and actions.
  • Lead engineering change execution, risk assessments, and mitigation planning to reduce cost, schedule and technical exposure.
  • Analyze performance data to identify issues, develop solutions, and optimize efficiency with minimal disruption to project operations.
  • Support proposals by developing BOEs and preparing Earned Value Management (EVM) reports for EVMS-related tasks.
  • Travel requirement: 5% domestic.

What You Will Do
  • Lead cross‑functional engineering projects by managing scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables to achieve program milestones on time and within budget.
  • Prepare and present technical and program status updates to CIPT and Pratt & Whitney leadership, clearly communicating progress, risks, and required actions.
  • Lead engineering change execution, risk assessments, and mitigation planning to reduce cost, schedule, and technical exposure across the project lifecycle.
  • Analyze performance data to identify issues, develop solutions, and optimize efficiency while ensuring minimal disruption to project operations.
  • Support proposal efforts by developing accurate BOEs and preparing Earned Value Management (EVM) reports for tasks requiring EVMS compliance.
  • Travel requirement: 5% domestic.

  • Relevant experience within aerospace, aviation, manufacturing, military, or logistics industries leading complex engineering projects or cross‑functional technical teams managing technical risks, engineering execution, or product development activities.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Proven leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Results‑oriented ability to drive tasks through to successful completion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teamcenter, SAP, Microsoft Project, or other project management software.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment, professionalism, and business maturity.
  • Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, long‑term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Benefits details depend on the specific business unit and collective‑bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may also be eligible for annual short‑term and/or long‑term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and collective‑bargaining agreement. Payments are not guaranteed and depend on individual performance, business unit performance, and company performance.
