Job summary

ABB in North Carolina seeks an engineering systems professional to act as a design authority for a discipline with low to medium complexity. You will work on small and portions of larger projects, applying design for excellence concepts to improve applications like Empower, Rulestream, ePLAN, GPLM, and SAP.

The role requires collaboration with Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing, with an onsite work model and occasional after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics.
• 3 years of experience with Project Engineering and Rules based Systems.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Empower, HIRES, ePLAN, GPLM, and SAP.
• Knowledge of Low/Medium Voltage Motor Control Centers.
• Working knowledge of SQL and general programming.
• Organized with the ability to work independently and in a team.
• U.S. work authorization is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, lead, and execute multiple small and large projects with timely delivery.
• Develop user requirements, specifications for Empower, Rulestream, ePLAN, GPLM, and SAP.
• Design, code, test and implement programs using Visual Basic (VBA/VB.NET) and C#.
• Interact with Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, and SAP teams to resolve system issues.
• Enhance mechanical configurator code and tables for product lines.
• Enhance electrical CAD tools for product lines.
• Setup, maintain, and train users on engineering systems.
• Occasional evenings and weekends may be required for production support.
• Perform other duties within Engineering Systems as directed.

This position reports to:
Engineering Tools Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Each day, you will complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your skills by applying basic design thinking/design for excellence concepts in projects.

The work model for the role is: onsite

This role is contributing to the Electrification Distribution Solutions in North America. Main stakeholders are Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Plan, organize, lead, and execute multiple small and large projects simultaneously while meeting target delivery dates.
• Develop user requirements, specifications, and structure for improving various applications, including, but not limited to Empower, Rulestream, ePLAN, GPLM, and SAP.
• Design, code, test and implement new programs using various languages such as Visual Basic (VBA and VB.NET) and C#, using structured programming techniques.
• Interact with Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, and SAP team members to identify and resolve system related issues.
• Enhance mechanical configurator code and tables for various product lines.
• Enhance electrical CAD tools for various product lines.
• Setup, maintain, and train users on engineering systems.
• Some evenings and weekends may be required as part of production problem resolution, programming and inventory support.
• Perform other duties within Engineering Systems as directed.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics.
• 3 years of experience with Project Engineering and Rules based Systems.
• Skills in MS Office, Empower, HIRES, ePLAN, GPLM, and SAP.
• Skills in MS Office, Empower, HIRES, ePLAN, GPLM, or SAP.
• Enhanced knowledge of Low/Medium Voltage Motor Control Centers.
• You have a working knowledge of SQL and general programming.
• You are organized with the ability to manage your own tasks and as part of a team.
