Job summary

ABB NAM Electrification Distribution Solutions in Pinetops, NC is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the execution of medium-size electrical power system projects. You will guide cross-functional teams, ensure compliance with procedures and standards, and deliver contracted outputs on time and within budget.

The role requires a Bachelor’s (Mechanical or Electrical) with 12–14 years in PM and engineering management, PM certification, and experience with waterfall and Agile methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) with 12–14 years of PM and engineering management experience.
• Master's degree with 10+ years of PM/engineering leadership experience is preferred.
• PM certification and experience in stage-gate projects using waterfall; some Agile experience is required.
• Direct experience in electrical/mechanical industry with project management in product development.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
• Candidates must have work authorization to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Develop and analyze project execution and KPI monitoring to ensure consistent delivery across factory teams.
• Prioritize actions based on strategic alignment, value, and resource capacity and provide leadership visibility for investments.
• Develop an execution plan with delivery, design, test, and user documentation, cost estimates, risk mitigation, and SOPs with strong reporting.
• Build a framework for cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Product Management, Supply Chain, Lab, Tech Services, Operations, and Quality Control.
• Implement and maintain project management tools, drive adoption, and automate reporting and workflows.
• Share executive summaries with Operational Excellence, Factory Management, R&D, and Product Management on a periodic basis.

Manufacturing Unit Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to manage the execution of medium-size projects. Each day, you will ensure that all related activities are executed in accordance with procedures, regulations, standards, specifications and targets. You will also showcase your experience by leading the project team members to satisfy project requirements, deliver contracted deliverables, and meet the planned project result.

This role is contributing to our NAM Electrification Distribution Solutions Operation in Pinetops, North Carolina.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Develop and analyze project execution, KPI monitoring of project and ensure Consistent project execution across teams in factory.
• Prioritize actions based on strategic alignment, value, and resource capacity. Ensure that leadership has clear visibility to make informed investments decision and project progress.
• Developing an execution plan with a clear delivery, design, test & user documentation, product cost estimates, risk mitigation techniques, and operating procedures are fully implemented and effectively executed, including high quality reporting on projects status.
• Develop framework for leaders to work collaboratively with cross-functional departments and team members including Engineering, Product Management, Supply Chain Management, Laboratory, Technical Services, Operations, and Quality Control
• Implement and maintain project management tools, follow up teams to use them consistently, and automate reporting, workflows, and documentation.
• Share executive summary with operational excellence, factory management, R&D leadership and product management periodically.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree is required), master's degree, with a minimum of 12-14 years (10+ years in case of master's degree) of experience in project management and engineering management of electrical power systems product development environment.
• Direct experience in the electrical/mechanical industry with project management in product development, project team management in a factory operations environment or in a power utility.
• Possess solid project management skills with demonstrated capability to meet project deadlines and deliver the results.
• PM certification as well as experience in managing stage-gate projects using waterfall project methodology; additional experience using Agile product development methodology.
• Solid people management or supervisory experience.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
• Candidates already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
