Job summary

Ames Construction is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to provide advanced technical, administrative, and operational support for heavy civil construction projects. The role involves scheduling, cost control, document management, subcontractor coordination, risk identification, and field operations support with a high degree of independence.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive Project Engineer experience in heavy civil construction and related infrastructure work.
• A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related engineering discipline is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and complex project schedules.
• Strong technical proficiency with project controls systems, document control, cost control, and forecasting.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Contract management, review of design, subcontracts, permits, RFIs, and change documentation.
• Lead coordination meetings with clients, subcontractors, vendors, field teams, and stakeholders.
• Support project cost control, forecasting, and budget updates.
• Provide technical support to heavy civil field operations and conduct constructability reviews.
• Mentor junior project staff and ensure adherence to company standards.
