What Will Do You

Pratt & Whitney Hot Section Engineering (HSE) team is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Project Validation Engineer to support our Geared Turbo Fan (GTF) team as we develop the next generation of engines to power commercial aircraft.

The Senior Project Validation Engineer will be responsible for coordination of all elements related to the Engine Development Plans (EDP) including support of engine validation and certification testing for GTF engines, including 30K NEO, NGPF, and GTFA engines. The Senior Project Validation Engineer will be accountable to the HSE Component Integration Product Teams (CIPTs) and will lead a cross-functional team of engineers that support all elements of the EDP, including hardware delivery, instrumentation / validation requirements, engine assembly/disassembly, engine testing, and validation / technical reviews and reports.

Qualified candidates need to be able to effectively lead a broad team of individuals to meet requirements and achieve goals. Candidates need to communicate effectively, be technically proficient, and be customer focused to lead the CIPTs to meet the aggressive demands of the engine development and testing schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be accountable to the CIPTs for all elements of the GTF Engine Development Plan (EDP), including communication, risk management, and execution to program requirements.
  • Provide project management and leadership to the engineering team responsible for execution of the GTF development engine plans, including leading weekly team meetings as appropriate.
  • On-time delivery of all inputs required by the Product Safety, Certification & Validation team (PSCV), including Test Job Requests (TJR), Test Instrumentation Requests (TIR), and all other validation requirements.
  • Support development engine assembly and testing, including quickly resolving any issues and being present during assembly / testing as appropriate.
  • Participate in and represent CIPTs at regular PSCV meetings, including daily validation meetings, engine pedigree reviews, and Test Readiness Reviews (TRR).
  • Participate with the CIPTs in communicating to engineering and program management.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • BS in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 5 years of engineering experience, 3 years with an advanced degree
  • Must be a U.S. Person / Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Strong communication skills, including verbal, technical writing, and presentations to engineering and management.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and risk management skills.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working across functions, organizations, and levels of management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing schedules with the ability to drive projects to successful completion.
  • Demonstration of skills consistent with the Pratt & Whitney Leadership Operating Model.
  • Engineering experience in design, development, validation, and entry into service, including development engine assembly / test experience.
  • Hot section gas turbine component and/or module level experience.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement principles (e.g., CORE, QCPC, Process Certification).
  • Knowledge and experience with Project Management toolsets (e.g., Agile, SAP, Primavera, and/or MS Project)

Hot Section Engineering (HSE)

Hot Section Engineering is responsible for the design, development, technology maturation and in service support of all diffuser cases, combustors, turbines (vanes, blades, rotors and cases), augmenters (military), nozzles and associated fuel systems for all military, commercial and industrial engine models and radial auxiliary power units.

Technical disciplines in HSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Durability and Product Definition.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
