Synchron has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer to provide engineering support to the U.S. Navy Team Submarine organization at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC. You will be directly supporting the U.S. Navy's PMS 397 Program Office which oversees the design, construction, and delivery of the COLUMBIA Class Ballistic Missile Submarine (SSBN). You will assist PMS 397 as the Fluid Systems Integration Team (SIT) Lead and support the Navy's future undersea warfare programs and systems.Senior Fluid Systems Project Engineer Responsibilities:
- Perform technical analysis including design and review of COLUMBIA Fluid Systems.
- Participate in technical and major milestone reviews and provide the technical expertise needed to plan and organize the Fluid Systems portions.
- Provide expertise needed to support the development of system performance metrics, system requirements, risk management, and technical analysis.
- Review systems architecture definitions and integration
- Analize and assess any fluid systems related construction issues as the program transitions from design complete into construction
- Provide engineering support including problem investigation and resolution
- Participate in systems and management level meetings, program and design reviews, and with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
- Assist in program schedule tracking and control by providing timely tracking and closure of assigned action items, stakeholder correspondence and coordination.
- Support the development of technical briefs
Education and Experience:
- A BS in Mechanical/Fluid Systems Engineering or a related engineering or science degree is required
- 5 years of experience in design, development, or analysis of fluid/seawater systems
- At least two years of related technical experience working within a DoD Program Office or Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA); Submarine design, production and/or operational experience is desired.
- Work experience with firefighting systems and/or damage control is preferred.
- Working knowledge of MS Teams and MS Office 365 Suite of programs.
- Ability to understand and succinctly summarize, communicate, and document technical issues.
- Must be articulate in oral and written presentations; possess high organizational skills and the ability to multi-task to meet deadlines. Must be a self-starter, possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work directly with various government and contractor representatives to complete assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner independently or with minimal supervision.
- Work experience within Team Submarine or onboard submarines is a plus.
- Required clearance: Active DOD Secret clearance
