Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc in Demopolis, AL is seeking an experienced project engineer to plan and execute capital and major expense projects across the mill. You will help develop the annual capital plan with detailed scopes, estimates and schedules, reporting to the Engineering Manager.

You will lead cross‑functional teams, drive projects from idea to implementation, and oversee equipment selection, procurement, installation, and commissioning to ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery and expected

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or 10 years relevant experience.
• Fundamental understanding of mill processes.
• Good oral and written communications skills, highly skilled in group communication.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and complete capital and major expense projects in the mill.
• Assist in developing the mill's annual capital plan with scopes, estimates and schedules.
• Report to the Engineering Manager on project progress and results.
• Lead cross-functional teams in development and implementation of capital projects.
• Develop projects from idea phase through implementation, coordinating operations, maintenance and technical inputs.
• Lead equipment selection, procurement, installation, checkout and commissioning.
