Job summary

Viasat is seeking a Senior Project Engineer in the United States to lead the technical execution of an advanced space network and enterprise program from development through deployment. You will translate mission needs into actionable engineering plans and coordinate across networks, software, operations, and integration teams.

You will guide system bring-up, manage scope and risks, and prepare design reviews and briefs for internal stakeholders and government customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical, computer, mechanical, systems engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of system-level engineering or program leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering fundamentals: requirements flowdown, verification/validation, and architecture.
• Ability to collaborate across diverse engineering domains and drive alignment.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain a United States Secret Clearance.
• Travel up to 25%.

What you'll do

Join a fastpaced team within Viasat's Government Connectivity, Data and Enterprise group as a Senior Project Engineer! In this role, you will:

• Lead the technical execution of an advanced space network and enterprise program from early development through deployment.
• Translate mission needs and highlevel requirements into actionable engineering plans, ensuring alignment across networks, enterprise systems, operations, software, and integration teams.
• Coordinate systemlevel design activities, guiding program execution development, interface definition, and integration activities across multiple domains for advanced enterprise solutions networking.
• Drive crossfunctional collaboration, ensuring consistent technical baselines, verification approaches, and integration readiness across engineering disciplines.
• Support proposals, planning, milestone preparation, and technical communication with internal stakeholders and government customers.

The day-to-day

You'll be at the center of engineering integration and program execution.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing technical scope, schedule, and risks to ensure delivery of missionaligned system capabilities.
• Guiding networking, software, operations, and integration and test teams through implementation and integration phases.
• Leading system bringup, troubleshooting issues during network/software integration, and ensuring traceability back to requirements.
• Coordinating with requirements, analysis, and modeling teams to maintain alignment throughout the lifecycle.
• Preparing and delivering technical briefs, design reviews, and engineering documentation.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience in system-level engineering, integration, or technical project leadership for complex communications, enterprise, or networking systems.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering fundamentals: requirements flowdown, trade studies, verification/validation, and system architecture.
• Ability to collaborate across diverse engineering domains and drive alignment in dynamic environments.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, including experience preparing briefings or leading technical discussions.
• US Citzsenship required
• Must be able to obtain a United States Secret Clearance
• Able to travel up to 25%.

• Background with modeling/simulation tools and system-level workflows.
• Experience working with geographically distributed teams and coordinating multidiscipline engineering activities.

Salary range

$141,500.00 - $224,000.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $176,000.00- $264,000.00/ annually
