Job summary

Arevon is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to provide technical oversight for PV and BESS projects. You will develop scope of work, review drawings, commissioning requirements, and respond to RFIs while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

The role requires detailed analysis of civil, structural, and electrical practices in line with industry standards. Travel to sites is expected, with opportunities to shape design standards and best practices across large-scale renewable

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil) or equivalent.
  • 8+ years hands-on engineering experience in solar, BESS, or related field.
  • Experience with electrical testing and field commissioning.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of solar PV systems, SCADA/monitoring, and BESS.
  • Familiarity with design calculations, report writing, and engineering standards (NESC, ASCE, ASME).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, ETAP/CYMCAP, PVsyst, WinIGS, and related tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineer reviewing PV, BESS, and HV designs for utility-scale projects.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, and electrical Owners & IEs to ensure comprehensive designs.
  • Lead review of civil, structural, and electrical scope for RFP submittals.
  • Review and respond to technical RFIs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage the EPC during the design phase, including layout, tilt, spacing, height, and performance calculations.
  • Perform due diligence on project documentation and flag issues for management.
  • Ensure design calculations and studies meet applicable codes and standards.
  • Provide engineering budget estimates based on project information and preliminary calculations.
  • Travel to construction sites as required.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop best practices and design standards.

The Position

The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for providing technical oversite for PV and BESS projects. The responsibilities include developing scope of work documents, reviewing design drawings, commissioning requirements, responding to technical RFI, and communicating with counterparties and internal stakeholders. The role requires detailed analysis and interpretation of civil, structural, and electrical Prudent Industry Practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineer reviewing the PV, BESS, and HV designs of utility scale projects.
  • This includes close coordination with civil, structural, and electrical Owners & Independent Engineer to ensure a comprehensive design package for Arevon.
  • Lead review of civil, structural, and electrical scope for use Request for Proposal (RFP) package submittals.
  • Review and respond to technical RFI responses throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage the EPC during the design phase of large-scale solar arrays including array orientation, tilt, spacing, height, collector system design and performance calculations.
  • Perform due diligence on project documentation, then catalog and communicate fatal flaws to management based on site development studies.
  • Accurately performs and/or manages the review of electrical, civil, and structural design and supporting calculations and studies in accordance with applicable codes.
  • Provide accurate and timely engineering budget estimates for time and costs to sales or management based on available project information, knowledge, and preliminary calculations.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes, standards, such as NESC, ASCE, ASME, ASTM, NEC, ANSI, IEEE.
  • Familiarity with NERC and CIP standards.
  • Able and willing to travel to construction sites.
  • Collaborate with engineering, estimating and construction staff to document and develop company best practices and design standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, required in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil disciplines.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience as an engineer working with solar, BESS, or another related industry required.
  • Electrical testing and field commissioning experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, highly motivated and results oriented, process oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of engineering and renewable energy systems; solar PV systems including SCADA and monitoring systems, and BESS.
  • Knowledge of site production & design calculations, plan preparation; site collector system calculations & report writing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AutoCAD design, ETAP or similar, CYMCAP or similar, PVsyst or similar, WinIGS or similar.
  • Knowledgeable in physical substation design methods and their application.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office, MS Windows, and project controls.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineering Registration (PE) Engineer-in-Training Engineering Registration (EIT)
