Job summary

Based in San Mateo County, this site-based role focuses on providing project management services for K-12 education projects under Division of State Architect oversight, with opportunities to advance within a collaborative, growth-minded organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture preferred.
• 4 or more years of related work experience in construction is required.
• Experience with Division of State Architect (DSA) project requirements strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops full understanding of the scope and interdependence of all contract documents.
• Observes and records jobsite activity in accordance with required contractual frequency.
• Assist with managing effective document control mechanisms to ensure work aligns with contract documents.
• Evaluates change order requests including design changes and drawings releases.
• Evaluates submittals of shop drawings, material data and samples per contract specs.
• Reviews and processes as-built drawings showing changes during construction.
• Reviews project schedule and assists PM with maintenance of it.
• Assist with RFI process to facilitate timely information exchange.
• Assists PM with cost control mechanisms for the project.
• Coordinates meeting agendas, prepares minutes and follows up on action items.
• Supports safe work practices and maintains a healthy work environment.
• Maintains professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and contractors.
• Executes additional duties as assigned.

Overview

Assist with providing Project Management Services over a construction project in the k-12 Education Market Sector with Division of State Architect (DSA) oversight.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Develops full understanding of the scope and interdependence of all contract documents
• Observes and records jobsite activity in accordance with required contractual frequency
• Assist with managing effective document control mechanisms for the project to ensure that work is performed in accordance with contract documents
• Evaluates change order requests including design changes, specifications and drawing releases and reports status
• Evaluates submittals of shop drawings, material data and samples and takes appropriate action based upon contract specifications
• Reviews and processes as-built drawings to ensure that all changes during the course of construction are recorded
• Reviews the project schedule and assists the project manager in the maintenance of it as requested
• Assist with managing the request for information process in order to facilitate the timely exchange of information between designer and contractor
• Assists the project manager in the maintenance of effective cost control mechanisms for the project
• Coordinates meeting agendas, prepares minutes and follows up on action items
• Utilizes safe work practices and follows directives, policies and procedures for assisting and maintaining a healthy and safe work environment
• Maintains effective and professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and contractors
• Executes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture is preferred
• 4 or more years of related work experience in construction is required
• Experience is with Division of State Architect (DSA) project requirements is strongly preferred

Knowledge And Skills

• Knowledge of construction and engineering related processes, as well as industry practices is required
• Knowledge of the roles and interdependence between the contractor, designer, owner, and construction manager is required
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective interpersonal relationships is required
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite of tools is required, user experience with Procore and Bluebeam is preferred
• Ability to read and comprehend technical drawings and blueprints is needed

Licenses and Certifications

A valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record, free from suspensions or restrictions, is required.

Travel Requirements

This position is site based on the clients’ multi-campus locations throughout San Mateo County, CA.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly work in an office and/or construction environment. Conditions regularly include exposure to outdoor elements, hot/cold temperatures, wet conditions, noise, atmospheric conditions and cramped quarters. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. The ability to manage a commute regionally as project site change.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, stand, walk, talk or hear and use hands to finger, feel and handle; frequently reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must frequently lift and or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.

The annual base salary range for this role is currently $95,000 - $110,000. The Company’s salary ranges are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of various factors, including job-related skills, relevant education and experience, abilities of the applicant and equity with other team members. The annual base salary range listed here is subject to change at any time, in the Company’s discretion, and does not alter in any way the at-will nature of the employment relationship.
