Job summary

Leonardo DRS is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead the technical execution of advanced electro-optical and infrared systems in support of critical missions. You will drive projects from design through delivery, lead cross-functional teams, and ensure on-time, on-budget execution with high quality standards.

The role requires a Master’s degree in engineering with 10+ years of experience, strong leadership, and deep knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines. U.S.

Job Summary

Lead the technical execution of advanced electro-optical and infrared systems that support critical missions. As a Senior Project Engineer , you'll drive complex projects from design through delivery, lead cross-functional teams, solve high-stakes technical challenges, and help deliver innovative solutions on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for leading all engineering efforts for a complex project or projects on time and budget
• Ensure design compliance with all project requirements
• Review customer specifications and requirements, and lead a project team to develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
• Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments
• Communicate clearly (written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customer as required
• Participate heavily in preparation of the more complex and significant proposals
• Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians and support personnel to coordinate, recommend and confer regarding technical activities and progress
• Lead a project team or teams as assigned
• Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
• Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
• Mentor and coach less experienced engineers
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 10 years of experience
• Mastery of technologies and domain knowledge
• Expected to have knowledge and experience in multiple engineering disciplines
• Ability to independently lead a team of engineers to complete a complex project or projects

U.S. Citizenship required. This position the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
