Ameresco is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our Alternative Fuels team based in Portland, ME or Charlotte, NC to support Renewable Natural Gas(RNG) and Landfill Gas-to-Energy (LFGTE) projects throughout the United States. Travel up to 25% based on the number of projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Review the project plans and specifications, building design, Project Engineering schedules and potential cost savings measures, approaching all designs with safety as the top priority.

  • Review submittals from contractors; respond to construction RFIs, DCNs, and Change Orders; issue appropriate responses.

  • Performs and reviews design calculations and prepares equipment and material specifications per the Basis of Design.

  • Assist in Development, evaluation of gas processing improvement methods; modify processes to improve safety, product quality, and cost reduction.

  • Create RFP and specs for gas processing systems-Membrane, Pressure swing adsorption, temperature swing adsorption, gas compression equipment, flare and thermal oxidizer.

  • Create RFP and specs for combined heat and power equipment including reciprocating engines, turbines, and heat recovery systems

  • Assist with the creation and revise Process Flow Diagrams, P&ID drawings, BOM's, and other engineering documentation as required for the associated project.

  • Assist in the development of general arrangement drawings and plant layout with consideration of process equipment layout and access to the site to satisfy safety and the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements.

  • Work closely with Ameresco Project Management, Process, Electrical, Controls, Commissioning and Construction as well as Equipment vendors to fully understand each process and provide design input regarding process improvement, equipment selections, constructability, reliability, and safety.

  • Assist in Development and design with Long Term Operation, serviceability, and strategic/common spare parts.

  • Interface with Utility technical staff to facilitate interconnection requirements.

  • Interface with Primary Owners technical staff to facilitate interconnection requirements.

  • Ability to travel up to 25%. Amount of travel is dependent upon the number of active projects.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related four-year technical engineering degree.

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of project development and implementation experience with renewable natural gas, power generation, or a related field.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain PE preferred.

  • Valid Driver license issued by state of residence and in good standing.

  • Experience with biogas and/or Combined Heat and Power (CHP) projects.

  • Experience managing multidiscipline engineering team and consultants.

  • Experience managing specifying and selecting technical equipment.

  • Experience with AutoDesk and Primavera P6 products.

  • Familiarity with ASME, AGA, AISC, OSHA, ASTM, and NFPA standards preferred.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as ability to communicate accurately and frequently with client contacts, manager and engineering team.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
