SolSearch Energy is seeking a Senior Development Manager for solar and storage projects, with a hybrid work setup in New York City or Denver (four days in office). You will run your own projects from feasibility through NTP and COD, owning permitting, interconnection strategy, and landowner relationships while guiding less experienced developers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in solar and/or storage development.
• Time as the primary development lead on distributed generation projects, from early stage through development complete.
• Hands-on ownership of permitting, title and site control cures, landowner relationships, and project budgets and schedules.
• Experience supporting construction loan and tax equity diligence.
• Strong critical path scheduling and project budgeting.
• Working knowledge of solar and storage design for projects up to 20MW+ AC.

Responsibilities

Senior Development Manager, Solar and Storage

Hybrid in New York City or Denver (four days in office) | Distributed and Utility-Scale

I'm working with a solar and storage developer and owner that was taken private in 2024 by an infrastructure investor. Almost the entire leadership team is new, and the investor has committed the funding to reach 500MW of operating assets over the next three to five years. They develop, build and operate their own projects, with current development focused on New York, Maryland and Illinois.

They're hiring a Senior Development Manager to work alongside the Director of Development. You'll run your own projects, and you'll also be the most experienced developer on the team: reviewing projects across the portfolio, catching what others have missed, and helping less experienced developers get their projects through.

What you'll do

• Run your own projects from site feasibility through NTP and COD, on schedule and on budget. You'll own the permitting, site control and title work, landowner relationships, interconnection strategy, and the schedule and budget.
• Review active projects across the portfolio and flag technical risks and gaps. Be the person developers come to when a project is stuck, whether the problem is with a utility, an AHJ or a landowner.
• Manage outside engineers, consultants and permitting specialists, and keep as much work in-house as you sensibly can.
• Review developers' work and help them grow. Put standards, templates and workflows in place, and fix the patterns that cause projects to stall.
• Work with pre-construction, engineering, finance and origination on handoffs, including construction loan and tax equity diligence.

What they're looking for

• 5+ years in solar and/or storage development
• Time as the primary development lead on distributed generation projects, taken from early stage through development complete. Supporting or analyst roles on those projects won't be enough
• Hands-on ownership of permitting, title and site control cures, landowner relationships, and project budgets and schedules
• Experience supporting construction loan and tax equity diligence
• Strong critical path scheduling and project budgeting
• Working knowledge of solar and storage design for projects up to 20MW+ AC
• Helioscope, Smartsheet and MS Office
• A genuine interest in mentoring less experienced developers
• Maryland or Illinois market experience is a plus

Location

Four days a week in the New York City or Denver office. You need to live within commuting distance of one or be willing to relocate.

Compensation

$150,000 - $180,000, fully paid medical, dental and vision, 401(k) with match, and generous PTO.
