Job summary

Jobtailor in New York seeks a senior renewable energy project development leader to manage a portfolio of solar and storage projects from LOI to NTP. You will set priorities, allocate resources, and guide cross-functional teams through interconnection, permitting, and engineering workstreams.

You will own budgets, schedules, and capital needs, mitigate risks, and drive strategic decisions. ET hours and US-based authorization preferred.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree.
  • 8+ years of renewable energy project development experience.
  • Proven track record developing C&I or distributed generation projects to Notice to Proceed.
  • Deep understanding of interconnection, permitting, engineering, site control, contracting, and project economics.
  • Experience leading project teams, mentoring junior staff.
  • Strong commercial judgment, communication, and negotiation with senior stakeholders.
  • Preferred: Battery energy storage systems (BESS) experience.
  • Preferred: Behind-the-meter and front-of-the-meter/wholesale renewable energy project experience.
  • Ideally located in New York or Northeast Region with Eastern Time hours.
  • US-only work authorization/location for remote option.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of a portfolio of ground-mount, rooftop, and carport solar and storage projects from LOI through Notice to Proceed.
  • Establish project priorities, development plans, stage gates, and resource allocation across the portfolio.
  • Oversee system design, equipment strategy, interconnection, permitting, environmental diligence, and site control.
  • Identify and mitigate technical, commercial, regulatory, financial, and schedule risks.
  • Own project budgets, schedules, forecasts, development milestones, and capital requirements.
  • Protect project economics and lead project approvals, capital requests, financing diligence, and preparation for project or fund closings.
  • Oversee negotiation and execution of key project agreements with customers, landowners, utilities, development partners, and vendors.
  • Manage Project Development Managers and other development team members, setting priorities and driving accountability.
  • Coordinate with Business Development, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Construction, and Asset Management.
  • Build external relationships, serve as an escalation point, and present portfolio status, risks, and key decisions to senior leadership.
  • Translate market, incentive, regulatory, and industry changes into development strategy and improve portfolio processes, tools, and reporting standards.

  • Ideally located in New York or Northeast Region with Eastern Time hours expected.
  • US-only work authorization/location for the remote option.
