Job summary

Vocon in Chicago seeks a Senior Project Designer to lead design execution on complex interior and architectural projects as a core member of the project leadership. You will coordinate with engineers and management to drive design from inception through completion, delivering high-quality documentation and client presentations.

The role requires 12+ years in commercial interior design and/or architecture, with NCIDQ certification; LEED and/or Well credentials are a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in architecture or interior design from an accredited university.
• NCIDQ Certification required for interior design professionals.
• LEED and/or Well credentials a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design execution of complex projects as a core member of the leadership team.
• Actively partner with technical and management leaders to execute the project from inception to completion.
• Inform the workplan, drive design, and produce content for all phases of design presentation and documentation.
• Lead design execution across programming, schematic design and design development.
• Produce design and presentation documents.
• Participate in client design presentations.
• Collaborate with the technical lead and engineers to inform design outcomes.
• Accountable for delivering project scope in alignment with fee, schedule and construction cost.
• Provide guidance in construction documentation to ensure design intent.
• Develop planning concepts for interiors and architecture as applicable.
• Coordinate specifications, materials, and location documentation.
• Assist in furniture systems and specifications on interior projects.
• Formulate aesthetically compelling designs that meet intended purposes.
• Mentor and elevate current and future leaders.
