Job summary

Motive Power Inc. is seeking a Project Controls Specialist to support project managers in implementing robust schedule and performance management controls.

You will develop and maintain schedules, WBS, analyze variances, and report on project health across field and office teams. Collaborating with cross-functional groups, you will maintain risk registers, support change management, and produce dashboards and KPIs to oversee a diverse portfolio of projects in the Houston area.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in project controls, scheduling, or related project management support.
• Experience in utilities, construction, oil and gas, or renewable energy industries is a plus.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6 and MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers in implementing effective schedule and performance management controls.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, plans, and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
• Analyze and report variances between planned and actual progress; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Perform schedule reviews to validate data accuracy and assess project health.
• Analyze contractor schedules and performance trends; provide insights on progress, risks, and forecasted outcomes.
• Maintain and update risk registers; assist in identifying risks, impacts, and mitigation strategies.
• Support the change management process by documenting, tracking, and reporting approved project changes.
• Prepare performance dashboards and KPIs to report project portfolio health.
• Apply project management and controls best practices across different contract types and project sizes.
• Promote safety, quality, and compliance with established project governance and standards.
• Work collaboratively across field and office environments to support project execution.
