Job summary

X Energy, LLC is seeking a Senior Manager, Project Controls to lead the day-to-day project controls operations across multiple programs, ensuring accurate plans, timely performance data, and clear reporting for delivery objectives.

The role emphasizes hands-on oversight of planning and scheduling, cost estimating, and change management, with responsibility for developing staff and enforcing controls standards across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in management, business, engineering, science or related discipline.
• Typically, fifteen years of project controls and management experience in large, complex organizations.
• Basic software skills (Microsoft Word and Excel).

Responsibilities

• Lead the project controls function for assigned programs/projects, directing planning and scheduling, cost control, estimating, and change management.
• Develop and coach project controls engineers and analysts, including workload, onboarding, performance management, and training.
• Oversee and improve project controls processes, tools, and templates for consistent, high-quality deliverables.
• Plan resources across multiple projects, balance demand, resolve conflicts, and reallocate staff to meet milestones.
• Provide hands-on guidance and quality checks on schedules, cost reports, forecasts, estimates, and trend logs.
• Manage baselines (scope, schedule, cost) with leadership and ensure updates reflect approved changes.
• Monitor performance against baselines, analyze variances, and work with PMs on corrective actions.
• Track budgets, commitments, actuals, and forecasts; support monthly/quarterly projections.
• Lead risk identification, maintain risk registers, and support mitigation/contingency planning.
• Prepare and distribute routine/ad-hoc reports and executive summaries for leadership.
• Coordinate change control, analyze cost/schedule impact, and ensure governance compliance.
• Collaborate with Business Development to define controls requirements for new pursuits and proposals.
• Serve as primary contact for project controls and advise on options with program leaders and finance.
• Contribute to developing and enforcing project controls standards and templates.
• Maintain organized repository of project controls documentation and ensure policy compliance.
• Represent the team with professionalism in all communications and duties.
