Job summary

Vanir Construction Management, Inc. is seeking a Project Controls Engineer in Los Angeles, CA to maintain budgets, perform variance analyses, and support funding for capital projects.

You will work with PM/CM teams to ensure accurate cost controls and timely reporting for complex programs. The role requires 5–10 years in project controls, strong Excel/Proliance skills, and the ability to communicate findings to management in a clear, concise manner.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 5–10 years of professional experience in program or project controls on a construction program.
• Experience across the full project lifecycle.
• Knowledge of cost/schedule management, EVM, change management, forecasting, and risk assessment.
• Ability to present data to management in an organized way.
• Exceptional communication skills and teamwork ability.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accuracy and integrity of budgets and forecasts per cost management policies.
• Draft white papers with PM and construction managers for funding and baselining.
• Participate in monthly EAC reviews with variance analysis.
• Allocate and manage ETCs including change orders and PBAs.
• Contribute to cost mitigation through risk assessment meetings.
• Perform monthly budget and cost reconciliations for reporting.
• Track cost trends and compare to forecasts.
• Review budgets across multiple funding sources for alignment.
• Coordinate with scheduling teams on cash flow impacts.
• Review financial reports for risk insights and accuracy.
• Assist with contract amendments, PBAs, and change orders.
• Gather completion data and adjust budgets/forecasts accordingly.
• Support PMO with dashboard reporting and data validation.
