Job Overview

Senior Project Controller for our Lakewood CO, Salt Lake City UT, or Phoenix AZ office. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and control project progress and support the Project Manager in achieving the project’s objectives throughout the project lifecycle. Use knowledge and experience to anticipate project requirements and pre‑empt project issues while working independently from the Project Manager.
  • Integration
    • Set up and coordinate the project according to the approach outlined by WSP.
    • Coordinate project closing, archiving documentation, lessons learned, client feedback, sub‑consultant evaluations and project experience profiles.
    • Develop project execution plans, quality management plans and risk management plans for Project Manager review.
    • Coordinate planning and execution of the project and monitor performance per the project execution plan and contract terms.
  • Scope and Schedule
    • Coordinate the development of the project scope statement and Work Breakdown Structure.
    • Produce and maintain client communications related to change orders.
    • Develop and maintain project schedule and track against the schedule baseline.
    • Develop and maintain Earned Value Management progress.
  • Cost
    • Set up and maintain budgets and expenditures.
    • Conduct project forecasting related to cost control.
    • Interface with the accounting team to ensure compliance with client invoicing requirements, prepare invoices and assist with timely payment.
    • Follow up and meet with the client’s accounting team to ensure an efficient AR cycle.
    • Maintain a low Day Sales Outstanding (DSO) on each project.
  • Project Documentation
    • Track requirements of quality management processes or plans to ensure they are met.
    • Coordinate project team communications, written and verbal, and document client meetings, interactions and activities.
    • Produce regular progress reports for the client, project team and stakeholders.
    • Coordinate data management and information transfer, including setting up and maintaining filing systems, document logs and action item lists.
    • Assist with identifying project risks and maintain the risk register.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct; adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • College diploma or university degree in an engineering or science related field.
  • Minimum five years of experience in related project support in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
  • Experience creating and monitoring project plans, schedules and budgets for multi‑disciplinary projects.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles and PMBOK.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and SharePoint.
  • Experience working with Primavera P6 to produce detailed independent schedules and network diagrams.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
