Job summary

Otak is seeking a creative Project Architect to join the Architecture Studio in Denver, CO or Portland, OR. You will lead design, documentation, and coordination across disciplines for multifamily, mixed-use, and commercial projects, guiding teams from design through construction administration.

You will mentor staff, manage project plans and staffing with Studio Leadership, ensure code compliance, and advocate for sustainable design while collaborating with clients and consultants to deliver

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture required; Master's degree preferred
• Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible architectural experience
• Professional Architectural Registration required
• Experience leading projects through all phases of design, documentation, and construction administration
• Ability to interpret/apply building, accessibility, life safety, and zoning codes throughout project development
• Experience with specification coordination, construction detailing, and building envelope design
• Strong understanding of building materials, assemblies, and construction systems
• Working knowledge of structural and MEP systems to coordinate interdisciplinary design
• Advanced proficiency with Revit and BIM workflows; proficient with Bluebeam, MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Deltek
• Self-motivated and able to manage priorities independently; strong communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, technical development, and delivery of multifamily housing, mixed-use, commercial, and community facilities
• Collaborate with project teams to develop high-performing design solutions balancing client goals, budget, and schedule
• Support development of work plans, staffing strategies, and team assignments with Project Managers and Studio Leadership
• Lead BIM model development, coordination, and quality control of documents and details; coordinate with structural, civil, and MEP consultants
• Ensure compliance with building codes; apply advanced technical knowledge to resolve design/construction challenges
• Develop architectural details focusing on building envelope performance and sustainability
• Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure document quality and project requirements
• Communicate design intent and technical solutions clearly to clients, consultants, and contractors
• Conduct site observations and field verification; support construction administration (submittals, RFIs, samples)
• Mentor and support architects and designers; foster collaboration and continuous improvement
• Participate in client presentations, interviews, and business development activities
• Champion sustainable and performance-based design strategies for lasting community value
