Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Project Architect in Seattle to lead multi-discipline teams and oversee layout, detailing, and documentation for architectural projects. You will coordinate across phases, lead owner meetings, and ensure code compliance with various governing agencies.

The role requires a Bachelor's (and often a Master's) in Architecture, 10+ years of experience, and registration. Proficiency in Revit and strong presentation skills are essential, with a commitment to HDR’s employee-owned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in architectural practice.
  • Registered Architect.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit and related tools and processes.
  • Demonstrated graphic presentation skills.
  • Experience in preparation and layout of architectural contract documents and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of codes and good planning skills.
  • Active participant in employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a multidiscipline team and perform layout and detailing on architectural projects.
  • Independently coordinate work of a multidiscipline team through multiple project phases.
  • Establish owner/client meetings and participate in reviews for code compliance.
  • Conduct work sessions on site with Project Manager and other disciplines.
  • Coordinate workload to complete documents on schedule.
  • Review architectural docs for conflicts with other disciplines.
  • Perform QA/QC and technical reviews.
  • Write and edit architectural specifications.
  • Coordinate with affected disciplines on addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders.
  • Incorporate changes into project documents as agreed.
  • Lead projects in a dual management role as needed.
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Senior Project Architect, we'll count on you to:
  • Lead a multidiscipline team and perform layout and detailing on architectural projects

  • Review architectural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines
  • Perform QA/QC and technical reviews
  • Write and edit architectural specifications

  • Lead projects in a dual management role as needed

Note:

This Senior Project Architect role may be aligned with either our Healthcare, Industrial, Federal or Mission Critical (Data Center) group. We welcome candidates with experience in either market, and the position is structured to support strong architectural talent across a range of backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Architecture
  • Experience in the areas of healthcare, educational, civic, science and research facilities
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp and 3-D Studio Max .
  • Rhino and Grasshopper experience
Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years experience
  • Registered Architect
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
