Job summary

SLSCO LTD, headquartered in Texas, seeks a Senior Project Accountant to support FAR/DCMA-governed federal contracts as the company’s general contractor. This hands-on role manages cost accounting, project billing and reporting, and helps establish accounting policies and processes.

Strong Excel skills are required, with a clear path to Divisional Controller. Based primarily in Galveston, TX, there is flexibility in location.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent).
Minimum 5 years of related accounting experience supporting project-based or government contracts.
Experience with FAR/DCMA accounting requirements.
Strong cost accounting, including indirect allocations and job-costing.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas).

Responsibilities

Maintain project financials for FAR/DCMA-governed contracts: cost tracking, indirects, labor distributions, and contract compliance.
Prepare and review cost estimates, cost forecasts, monthly reports, and variance analyses.
Manage billing and revenue recognition; prepare invoices and support audits.
Document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls for project accounting.
Support audits and DCMA inquiries; prepare schedules and backup.
