Job summary

The University of Miami is seeking an Accountant 3 (Full Time) to manage project accounts for UHealth Facilities Operations & Planning and to maintain accurate financial records on the Medical Campus. Responsibilities include preparing complex financial statements, conducting variance analysis, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

The role mentors junior staff and collaborates with project managers to track budgets and costs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience; construction accounting preferred.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.
• Knowledge of budget control methods, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to prepare financial and accounting records and communicate results concisely.

Responsibilities

• Maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded.
• Safeguards the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
• Prepares complex balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
• Analyzes costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to predict future revenues and expenses.
• Oversees, mentors, and assists lower-level accountants.
