Summit Line Construction, Inc. in Phoenix is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to manage the accounting and financial systems for multiple projects.

You will ensure accurate project activity, support month-end close, and prepare reports for the Regional Controller and management. Ideal candidates have 3–5+ years in project or construction accounting, solid GAAP knowledge including ASC 606, and advanced Excel and ERP experience (JDE, OneStream, EcoSys).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–5+ years of project accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and ASC 606.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Establish new projects and maintain job master info.
• Set up budgets, codes, WBS, and attributes.
• Record budget adjustments and changes in JDE.
• Load monthly forecasts into JDE and verify updates.
• Perform project reconciliations and review transactions.
• Prepare month-end close and reporting packages.
• Support ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• Assist audits with supporting schedules.

Position Summary:

The Senior Project Accountant is responsible for the accounting administration and financial system maintenance of assigned projects. This position ensures authorized project activity is accurately recorded in the company’s accounting systems and supports the Regional Controller through reliable project financial records, month-end accounting, reporting, and compliance.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities:

Project Setup & Budget Maintenance

• Establish new projects and maintain required job master information within the accounting system.
• Set up and maintain project budgets, cost codes, work breakdown structures, quantities, and other accounting attributes.
• Record authorized budget adjustments and approved project changes in JDE and applicable financial systems.
• Load approved monthly forecasts into JDE and verify successful system updates.

Reconciliations & Transaction Review

• Perform project-level account reconciliations and research discrepancies in recorded activity.
• Review project transactions for appropriate coding, classification, and accounting treatment.
• Reconcile relevant financial information between JDE and other reporting systems and investigate differences.

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

• Execute assigned month-end close procedures, including necessary journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Generate project financial reports and accounting schedules for the Regional Controller and management.

Revenue Recognition & Compliance

• Support revenue recognition and project accounting requirements in accordance with company policy, GAAP, and ASC 606.

Audit & Controls Support

• Maintain accounting support for recorded project transactions and system adjustments in accordance with record-retention requirements.
• Provide requested accounting support and schedules for internal and external audits.
• Identify unusual transactions, accounting discrepancies, or control exceptions and bring them to the Regional Controller’s attention.
• Support consistent application of project accounting policies and procedures across assigned projects.

What You'll Bring

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 3-5+ years of project accounting, construction accounting, or general accounting experience in a project-based environment.
• Strong knowledge of project accounting, general ledger activity, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition principles, including ASC 606.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage accounting responsibilities across multiple projects and reporting periods.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with JDE, OneStream, EcoSys, or similar financial systems preferred.
