Job summary

Focus Search LLC is recruiting for a Senior Project Accountant for a rapidly growing General Contractor in the Columbus area. This lead-level role partners with Project Managers and Operations to manage complex construction accounting from setup through closeout.

The position oversees owner billings, retainage, job costing, change orders, WIP schedules, forecasting, reconciliations, and project closeouts, ensuring accurate reporting and contract compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of construction project accounting experience.
• Expertise in job costing and project financial management.
• Advanced proficiency with Excel and construction ERP systems such as CMiC and Textura.

Responsibilities

• Oversee project accounting activities from setup through closeout.
• Oversee owner billings, retainage, and changes orders.
• Manage job costing, WIP schedules, and forecasting.
• Perform account reconciliations and support project closeouts.
• Assist with financial risk mitigation and reporting to PMs.

This is a lead-level construction accounting role responsible for overseeing project accounting activities while serving as a key financial partner to Project Managers and Operations teams. This position manages accounting for complex construction projects from setup through closeout, reviews and mentors Project Accountants, resolves billing and job-cost issues, and ensures accurate financial reporting, cash flow management, and contract compliance. Key responsibilities include overseeing owner billings, retainage, job costing, change orders, WIP schedules, forecasting, account reconciliations, project closeouts, and financial risk mitigation.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of construction project accounting experience
